The calendar has turned over another month and as it does we are starting to find out the true identities of certain teams which lends us well in the world of DFS. We can finally draw some, not all, conclusions on certain teams. For tonight, three games are really piquing my interest. Buffalo at Washington, Detroit at Carolina and Philadelphia at New Jersey. Let’s dive into it and make some Ice Picks!
CORE MUST-HAVES ⭐
Alex Ovechkin WSH W $8,100
The Caps are scoring goals in bunches these days and have been apart of high scoring games of late. The over has hit in eight straight games and in nine of the last 10. Washington has put up 44 goals in those games which works out to healthy 4.4 per game. The Sabres are actually pretty stout on defense this season as they rank 6th in the league with a 2.46 GAA. Expect that to correct itself over the next while as the Sabres aren’t blessed with the best goaltenders in the league. Ovechkin is usually a no-brainer and tonight is no different.
Taylor Hall NJ W $7,400
New Jersey was able to go blow for blow with the Lightning on Wednesday which should give them a morel boost going forward. It’s been a rough start for the Devils but a matchup against the Flyers who have given up 16 goals in their last three games, could be just what the doctor ordered. Taylor Hall is off to a bit of a slow start but is clearly the team’s best player, he has six points and 16 shots in his last five games.
Dougie Hamilton CAR D $6,200
The Canes truly have a balanced attack as they are getting scoring from multiple sources. The scoring stretches into Carolina’s D core and is led by Dougie Hamilton. Hamilton continues to improve on his season to date total of 13 points in 12 games. His last five games total of five points lead the team during the stretch and he is also filling in the shot and block columns. The Red Wings continue to struggle and are ranked 26th in goals against with a mark of 3.54.
VALUE PLAYS
Dmitry Orlov WSH D $3,600
Orlov is second amongst Washington defensemen in average ice time per game in the last five games. He is also featured on the second powerplay unit.
Jordan Staal CAR C $4,100
As mentioned earlier the Canes are getting a balanced attack on the offensive end making it somewhat difficult to choose which players to include in your lineups. Staal ranks high on the depth chart for ice time and at $4.1 K he is priced fairly here. He is as good of an option as any of the Hurricanes players priced in the value tier.
