NHL DFS DraftKings Ice Picks January 7th, 2020

Joel Dorcas | January 7th, 2020

Welcome back in DFSer’s. We have a nice 12 game slate on the docket tonight. Two teams who have caught the winning bug meet in Tampa. The Capitals are home to the Senators, the Flyers try to nab a victory on the road at Carolina and the Colorado Avalanche continue their road trip in New York. Let’s dive right in and try our hand at some Ice Picks!

CORE MUST-HAVES ⭐

Nathan MacKinnon C COL $8,500

Let’s go right back to the well with MacKinnon. The Rangers are still struggling mightily as they have allowed an average of four goals agaisnt per contest over the course of the last 10 games. The Avs are an elite offensive force this season, they lead the league in goals for per contest at a 3.63. As for MacKinnon, he has three goals and five assists with 28 shots on target in his last five.

Dougie Hamilton D CAR $6,500

Dougie Hamilton continues his solid play for the Canes. He has been arguably the most consistent force on the team and is priced very fairly tonight. Hamilton leads the team in the last five with 20 shots in his last five games, he also has the team lead for the season-long totals with 157 to date.

John Carlson D WSH $6,900

A Washington stack is in order tonight as the Caps will draw the Sens in what appears to be a smash spot. The Senators have allowed 43 goals in the last 10 games in large part of the fact that they are still without number one goalie Anders Nilsson. They have only put up one game in their last eight starts with a save percentage over .900. Carlson continues his great season and continues to put pucks on net regularly.

VALUE PLAYS

Nazem Kadri C COL $4,600

Naz gets the slight edge over teammate Andre Burakosky as they are priced the same. You can make an argument for both but Kadri has produced more goals and shots over the last five games.

Erik Haula C CAR $3,500

Although Haula has just three points(1G, 2A) in his last five games, we are still getting a player that is featured on the first powerplay unit coupled with the fact that the Flyers struggle significantly on the road. The Flyers have just a single victory in their last five games, a 2-1 victory Dec 29th vs. Anaheim. In those games, they have surrendered 23 goals.

Alex Killorn W TB $5,400

All of a sudden the Lightning have more consistent offensive talent. Killorn is yet another player opposing teams will have to account for, not just Stamkos, Point, and Kucherov. Killorn is a mid-tier priced player that should be included as the Lightning average a robust 3.90 goals at home this season. Tampa is a perfect 7-0 in their last seven games. Since starting the season with five goals through his first 22 contests, Killorn has been red hot, 11 goals, eight helpers in 18 games.

STACK ‘EM

  1. Washington Capitals- Ovechkin(W), Carlson(D), Kuznetsov(C), Oshie(W)
  2. Tampa Bay Lightning-Killorn(W), Stamkos(C), Point(C), Kucherov(W)
  3. Colorado Avalanche-MacKinnon(C), Makar(D), Donskoi(W), Rantanen(W)

*All prices listed are from DraftKings*

Good luck to everyone tonight, keep grinding out those lineups!
