NFL Week 5 Preview

Week 5

As we enter Week 5 of the NFL season, there are a few tremendous matchups scheduled. All four teams in the powerhouse NFC West play one another. A rematch of the AFC Championship will be a fun one on Sunday night. Here is a look at the noteworthy aspects of every game and what Week 5 has in store.

Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

Quite the game to start up the week. These are two of the best teams in the league entering a pivotal contest. The Rams cannot afford to drop two in a row. For the Seahawks, they put themselves in an early hole and need this one in the division at home. Russell Wilson has been great for the Seahawks. The Rams defense has struggled, so anticipate some scoring from Seattle. Los Angeles should score a good chunk of points in this one, as well. This could be the game they get a big performance from Robert Woods. Expect Matthew Stafford to play at a high level. In the end, the Rams win by about a field goal.

New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons

This is the first international game of the year. It will be interesting to see how these teams start out. For the Jets, Zach Wilson is coming off a special performance. A healthy Elijah Moore will be back in this one. Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder, and Keelan Cole all attained success a week ago, so anticipate another strong outing from the Jets’ offense. Defensively, New York has done some great things thus far. The Falcons are coming off a tough loss at home. Their defense has not been productive. Offensively, Cordarrelle Patterson has been dominant. In the end, the Jets win by one score.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings need this division matchup to keep themselves in the playoff race. Expect their offense to have a bounce-back performance. Hopefully, they can give Dalvin Cook a full workload. Lions quarterback Jared Goff has done his job well, while the defense has had its struggles. It will be important for the Vikings’ defense to play like it did a week ago for them to win this one. Minnesota will win by at least one score.

New Orleans Saints at Washington Football Team

This game looks to be a fascinating one. Each team enters 2-2 and they have both shown some good and bad in the early going. Washington needs their defense to pick things up. They have too much talent to be playing at the level they have been. It will be interesting to see how Taylor Heinicke and the rest of the offense for Washington play against this Saints defense. Heinicke is coming off another great game. This should be a close one. Washington will win by roughly a field goal.

New England Patriots at Houston Texans

The Patriots have a great opportunity to get an important win here. Expect Bill Belichick to have a great game plan against rookie quarterback, Davis Mills. The Patriots’ offense (led by Mac Jones) should have a stellar outing. Jones had yet another impressive game a week ago. Expect Matt Judon to once again make his impact felt in a big way this game. The Patriots will end up winning by around 10.

Miami Dolphins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This is arguably the toughest spot for the Dolphins to be in with their season on the line. They have not been all too impressive two of the last three weeks. For them to have a chance, they will need their defense to make a big impact. The Buccaneers’ defense should have a great day led by some of their young talent up front in Vita Vea, Devin White, and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Tom Brady will lead the offense to a productive day. The Buccaneers will win by at least 10.

Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals

This game is a very intriguing one. If the Bengals can keep this a close, competitive game it will say a lot about where they stand. Anticipate the Cincinnati offense putting up points. Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tyler Boyd have all been great. It will be fun to see the Bengals’ defense against the Packers’ offense. Their unit defensively has surpassed some expectations. How they handle Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in this one will be crucial. In the end, the Packers will win a very close one.

Denver Broncos at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers need to keep their season alive and have a great opportunity to do so in this one. Without Teddy Bridgewater, the Broncos will likely struggle to move the ball through the air. This could potentially be a big game for Javonte Williams. For the Steelers, they need to have more balance offensively. This talented Broncos defense could give them problems. However, the Steelers’ defense may also have a good enough performance to win this game. The Steelers will win this one by about a field goal.

Philadelphia Eagles at Carolina Panthers

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Panthers have a strong chance of getting a bounce-back victory here. The Eagles have lost three in a row and have struggled defensively the last two games. This is a game Sam Darnold should play well in. For the Eagles’ offense, it will be interesting to see how Jalen Hurts executes against this talented Panthers defense. The Panthers will end up winning this one by roughly a touchdown.

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Titans lost a tough one last week but should get back in the win column after this one. The Jaguars have struggled to finish games the last two weeks. They could keep this one close for some time but winning this one is unlikely. Expect a lot of Derrick Henry in this game. It will be interesting to see if Trevor Lawrence can build on some of the encouraging things he showed last game. Even if the Titans do not get Julio Jones or A.J. Brown back, expect them to win by a touchdown at least.

Cleveland Browns at Los Angeles Chargers

This game is one of the best of the week. Both teams enter at 3-1 and have played great football. Each of these defenses has been amongst the best to this point. Expect the Browns to play ball control in this one offensively with Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and their dominant offensive line. For the Chargers offense, Justin Herbert faces a unique challenge against this defense. Expect Herbert to do some good things with Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen. When they are matched up, Rashawn Slater against Myles Garrett will make for one of the best one on one battles of the week. This game will be a very close one that the Chargers win.

Chicago Bears at Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are coming off their first loss of the season but are poised to get back to winning in this game. The Bears announced Justin Fields will now be their starter. Without David Montgomery, it will be interesting to see how this offense performs. The Raiders offense should pick up their play this week led by Derek Carr, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller. The Raiders win this matchup by at least a touchdown.

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers are looking to break their current losing streak and could not have a tougher task. The Cardinals are probably the best team in the league right now. Trey Lance will be getting his first start. Expect him to bring some big plays with his unique skill set. Deebo Samuel has been off to an incredible start. For the Cardinals, Kyler Murray has been exceptional. This game should be a close one that the Cardinals win.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys enter on a three-game winning streak, and the Giants are coming off their first win of the season. Daniel Jones has played some great ball the last three weeks. Going against this stingy Cowboys defense will be a good challenge for him. For the Cowboys, Dak Prescott is playing his best leading this team. Their offense should have another productive outing. The Cowboys will win this one by about a touchdown.

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs

This game is a big one for each team. The Chiefs are currently last in their division and need this one. For the Bills, they look to finally win against Kansas City. Buffalo’s defense is arguably the best in football right now. It will be fun to see them matched up against Patrick Mahomes, who is coming off a five-touchdown game. Offensively for the Bills, they have been great the last three weeks. They will need big games from Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs in this one. In the end, this one will be a very close one the Bills win.

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens

The week rounds out with an AFC battle. Both teams are coming off solid road wins. The Colts have a lot to play for as they are 1-3. For them, it will be important to win this one in the trenches. They will have to rely on Jonathan Taylor to control this game. Carson Wentz has played well for the Colts and will need to show up in this one. Baltimore has won three in a row, led by Lamar Jackson. They will need Jackson, Marquise Brown, and Mark Andrews to deliver in order to win. How their defense performs will be key. In the end, the Colts win a close one by about a field goal.
