NFL Injury Update: Super Bowl Edition

Dr. Beth Sullivan | February 2nd, 2020

Well, we have made it sports fans, the end of another NFL season. Two teams remain and they will meet later today to decide a champion. Earlier in the season, both teams had some major injury worries. When Patrick Mahomes dislocated his knee, you could hear a collective gasp in the sports community. But he is back under center for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The San Francisco 49ers have 15 players on injured reserve, but these don’t count when looking at the options for who plays come the big game. On the final injury report for both teams published Friday, neither team had any players with a game designation and all players practiced fully.

Considering the length of the season and the stressors placed on their bodies, the fact that both teams are in such a good place injury-wise makes the upcoming even more exciting. Given the lack of injury news for both teams, there isn’t anything else for me to do.

With that being said, I hope you all enjoyed my injury reports this past season and I will look forward to keeping you informed in 2020. Good luck to both the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. May the best team win.
