NFL Injury Update – AFC Championship

Dr. Beth Sullivan | January 19th, 2020

Two games left with a trip to the Superbowl for the victors. It has been an interesting playoff season so far and today’s games figure to have some excitement for sure. I will take a look at the AFC game in this article and the NFC game in a second article today.

Both the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs have a few players listed as questionable. The Chiefs also have several players listed who were full participants in practice on Friday. I expect all of them to be ready to go. As far as the questionable players two are dealing with illness -flu I suspect, and their status will have to wait until the inactive list comes out later today.

Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce  Tight End

Kelce has been dealing with a knee strain for the entire playoffs and continues to be listed on the injury report for the same issue. While his status won’t be known for sure until later today when the inactive list is released, I fully expect him to be suited up and play a big role in the Chiefs offense.

LeSean McCoy  Running Back

McCoy hasn’t played a very large role in the Chiefs offense of late and if he is sick and dealing with an illness, I suspect he will probably be inactive come game time

Matt Moore  Quarterback

Morre is also dealing with an injury, but I suspect he will be available Sunday afternoon. The last report on him was that he was well on the road to recovery and would be on the sideline in his backup capacity this week.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans had seven players listed as questionable for today’s game. All were limited participants in practice this week but with the trip to the Superbowl on the line I expect that the Titans will suit up all able-bodied players come game time.

Adam Humphries  Wide Receiver

Humphries practiced on a limited basis for the third straight day Friday. Humphries suffered an ankle injury during the Chiefs December 1st game against the Indianapolis Colts and has not played since. As I said earlier, I expect if he is able he will be suited up come game time. How effective he will be is questionable since this would be his first game action in the last six weeks.

Logan Ryan  Cornerback

The flu bug hit the Titans too. Ryan missed practice early in the week due to illness but practiced fully on Friday and will be on the field for the championship tilt.

Cody Hollister  Wide Receiver

Hollister is also dealing with an ankle injury but was able to practice all week on a limited basis. I expect he will be ready to play in the championship game as well. Having both Humphries and Hollister could help bolster the Chiefs passing game which may be needed to keep up with the Chiefs high powered offense.

The staff of TheScorecrow.com made their predictions for championship Sunday and you can read those here. Good luck to both the Titans and Chiefs.
