Draft Trades the PTST Team Would Like to See

NFL Draft Trades

We are less than a week away from the 2021 NFL Draft, and trade rumors are swirling. Teams looking to move into the top-10 seem to be in high demand and make for a really interesting draft week. With trade talk at its peak for the season, members of the Prime Time Sports Talk Scouting Staff break down five trades they’d like to see on draft night.

Charlie Parent, Chris Gallager, and Brady Podloski contributed to this article.

New England Patriots Move Up for a Quarterback

The full trade: Patriots send picks 15, 36, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2023 first-round pick for pick four from the Atlanta Falcons. In an already hectic offseason for the Patriots, they get moving once again by trading up to select a quarterback. This quarterback can groom behind Cam Newton for a year and set up the future in New England. The Falcons are reportedly willing to move down, and they get an absolute haul from the Patriots here.

Los Angeles Chargers Strike Deal With Detroit Lions

The full trade: Chargers send picks 13, 77, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2022 fifth-round pick for pick seven, and a 2022 sixth-round pick from the Lions. The Chargers give up a haul to move up to select Penei Sewell here. Sewell would drastically improve their line and help protect young quarterback Justin Herbert. The Lions might be a little hesitant to make this deal. But, with the picks they’re accumulating, they cannot pass it up. The Chargers move up in the first round for the second year in a row and pick up one of the best overall prospects in this draft class.

Minnesota Vikings Enter the Top-10 Mix

The full trade: Vikings send picks 14, 78, 90, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2022 fifth-round pick for pick nine from the Denver Broncos. This is a pretty expensive price to trade up for the Vikings, but it is for a good reason. If offensive tackle Rashawn Slater is on the board, the Vikings should be eager to go and get him. Slater can play guard or tackle and help a pretty depleted offensive line. The Vikings also jump the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, who may be looking at Slater for their pick. The Broncos are willing to take a super deal to move back five spots and take the best player available at 14.

New York Jets Strike a Deal in the Latter Half of the Round

The full trade: Jets trade picks 34 and 107 to the Green Bay Packers for pick 29. The Jets already have two first-round picks but moving up here makes a lot of sense. The Jets will be able to leapfrog the Buffalo Bills for a running back or help on the edge, which are two huge needs of theirs. If they can get edge help at pick 23 and take one of the top running backs in the draft at 29, they could be the first-round winners. The Packers only move back five spots and pick up an extra pick along the way. They’ll most likely look for defensive help at 34 and now have two second-round picks, with one coming at 62.

Cincinnati Bengals Come Back Into the First Round

The full trade: Bengals send picks 38 and a 2022 second-round pick for pick 21 from the Indianapolis Colts. This move makes sense for both teams. The Bengals can move back into the first round and look to address some major needs and look at the future. They’d most likely address defensive line, offensive line, or receiver here, depending on what they do at pick five. For the Colts, they can start to rebuild some of the draft capital that they gave up for new quarterback Carson Wentz
