NFL DFS: NFC Championship Game

NFC Championship

A trip to the Super Bowl is on the line and for the third time this season these two NFC West division rivals will be facing off. This game will feature the Los Angeles Rams, who will be hosting the San Francisco 49ers. Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers have had Sean McVay’s number in their coaching careers. Shanahan has won six matchups in a row including both regular-season games this year, including a Week 18 matchup that sent the 49ers to the playoffs. This game should be excellent. Let’s take a look at the top players in this NFC showdown.

DraftKings Captain | FanDuel MVP

Jimmy Garoppolo (DK 13,500 | FD 12,500)

Garoppolo has seen way too much hate for his performance last week. Yes, he played bad but the weather was affecting him and Aaron Rodgers all game. This week the weather will be a non-factor in the Sofi Stadium indoor stadium. Garoppolo is a risky play but he will be one of the cheaper Captain/MVPs and also one of the lower owned guys on the slate. The last time these two teams faced off, Garoppolo threw for 316 yards. Furthermore, in his career against the Rams, he averages 258 passing yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game. If the 49ers can keep him upright and he can score touchdowns in the red zone he will be one of the highest scores on the slate and a great value at Captain.

Flex Plays

Brandon Aiyuk (DK 6,200 | FD 9,500)

Aiyuk and the 49ers passing attack as a whole need to step up in this game. The cold weather and game plan last week definitely impacted Aiyuk having only had one target and dropping it. However, he was actually very good before last week’s game having caught 15 passes for a total of 267 receiving yards in his three prior games. Look for Aiyuk to be much more involved and have a very good bounce-back performance.

Cam Akers (DK 7,000 | FD 11,000)

Even with two fumbles, Akers’ backup, Sony Michel, still only saw one carry last week. The Rams showed a lot of trust in him despite those mistakes, giving him 24 carries against a stout Tampa Bay Buccaneers run defense. This week will be a lot of the same against another tough 49er run defense. However, they should be getting Andrew Whitworth back, which will be a good boost for the run game. Look for the Rams to get Akers the ball early to get their play-action game going.

Cooper Kupp (DK 12,200 | FD 16,000)

Kupp has been unguardable all season long and one of if not the best offensive player. His connection with Matthew Stafford has been amazing week in and week out. In both games against the 49ers this season, he did a lot of damage. He had over 100 yards in both games and at least seven catches. With Garoppolo at Captain, you’ll save enough money to afford Kupp even with him being the most expensive player on the slate.
