The 2021 New York Jets are 1-5 and for the most part, playing as bad as any team in the NFL. Coming off a historically bad season with a rookie head coach, quarterback, and many other new coaches and players tough times were to be expected in year one. However, the Jets have essentially been non-competitive in four out of the six games they have played. With Zach Wilson out a few weeks with a knee injury, the Jets traded for Joe Flacco yesterday. However, that won’t be the only move they make before the November 2 trade deadline.

Potential Trade #1: Jamison Crowder to the New Orleans Saints for a 2022 fifth-round pick
Crowder has been a great Jet as a slot receiver since signing a three-year deal with the team in free agency of 2019. He is not currently slated to be with the team next season. Wide receiver happens to be the Jets deepest position group right now and they are struggling to get everyone involved. The Jets drafted Elijah Moore very early in the second round this year and need to get him more opportunities. The Jets have also had a hard time getting the football to Keelan Cole who they were excited to sign in free agency. Lastly, the second-round pick from a year ago, Denzel Mims, can hardly get on the field.
For the Saints, they have very little production from their group of wide receivers on the season. With Michael Thomas and Tre’Quan Smith both out, adding a solid veteran in Crowder would be wise as they look to keep themselves in the playoff hunt. The Saints currently have a disastrous salary cap situation for 2022. With Crowder not being under contract for next year, this would make sense for the Saints. Ultimately, Crowder is a proven player in the slot who would immediately boost this passing attack.
Potential Trade #2: Marcus Maye to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2022 seventh-round pick and 2023 sixth-round pick
The longest-tenured Jet, Maye has been very solid for the team since being drafted in 2017 when healthy. This offseason, he was franchise-tagged with no multi-year contract extension agreed upon. He and his agent have vented their frustration. Recently, Maye had a legal situation made known. There is no way one could possibly see him being a Jet beyond this season. Look for the team to trade him for almost anything they can get. He did not make much of an impact at all in Sunday’s blowout defeat.
For the Chiefs, they are a team with Super Bowl aspirations with a terrible defense that is hurting their chances. If they were to acquire Maye, he would certainly help their unit. He is capable of playing both free and strong safety. He is a physical player who can make plays on the football. Maye would work very well alongside Tyrann Mathieu and allow him to play up to his ability. This trade would certainly help the Chiefs right away as they look to keep their season alive.
Potential Trade #3: Nathan Shepherd and a 2023 seventh-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2023 sixth-round pick
Shepherd has been a disappointment over his four years with the Jets as a third-round selection. The Jets currently have a ton of depth along the interior of the defensive line. Shepherd’s rookie contract is up at the end of the season and the Jets need to see the rookie Jonathan Marshall get some more playing time. With Shepherd in the way, the Jets should move him at any price would be ideal.
For the Cowboys, this is not much to give. Sliding down their pick a round for a potential contributor down the stretch could make for good value. When Shepherd has been successful with the Jets, he has made his impact felt along the interior of the defensive line rushing the quarterback. With some of the injuries, the Cowboys have had upfront, adding a veteran player in Shepherd could help this already talented defense. At the very least, he could provide adequate depth.
