The New Jersey Devils could make additions to their team; however, they will likely end up being sellers this season. If you look at their roster, you might not see players they can give up at first glance. However, a few might be able to be moved if only to free up cap space. It’s been previously reported that the Devils are looking for a winger. Any of these three players might net them what they are looking for.

P.K. Subban
The main reason the Devils would trade Subban is because of cap space. He’s not been a bad player for New Jersey; however, he has a cap hit of $9 million. He has 19 points in 54 games, and he has been great on the third pairing. Subban’s physicality and playoff experience could come in handy if the Devils send him to a playoff team. However, if they decide not to extend Subban, they need to deal him and get something for him, even if it’s not the winger they appear to be looking for.
Pavel Zacha
Zacha is a pending restricted free agent with a cap hit of $2.25 million. In 56 games, he has 13 goals and 15 assists and has a 50.8 faceoff percentage. He hasn’t been what the Devils have hoped for, but it seems at times the organization has not done a great job of using the talent he does have constructively. If he lands with another team, they will have to be patient with him. Hopefully, his injury in the recent game against the Vancouver Canucks hasn’t decreased any team’s interest in him.
Damon Severson
Severson might not be a player the Devils would trade since he has a year left on his contract. New Jersey will have a few players to pay, and Severson’s cap hit is approximately a little over $4.16 million. Freeing that much cap space now would help the Devils plan out the contracts they will give players like Jesper Bratt, which will be long-term deals. In addition, Severson has 33 points in 57 games, making it a career year for him. The Devils could take advantage of that and get more for him than they might next season.
