Throughout the ninth week (Dec. 12 to 18) of the NBA season, fans will look ahead to a match that should reignite the Pelicans-Suns rivalry. But until then, there are plenty of other great games on the docket.
Dec. 13: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Golden State Warriors
Battle of the last two champions. It would be great if all key players somehow played in this game. At least we know Khris Middleton, who missed Milwaukee’s first 20 games, is back in action for the Bucks. All we have to do now is to keep an eye on the Warriors. Are they going to rest Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson? We hope not.
Dec. 13: Los Angeles Lakers versus Boston Celtics
One of the oldest rivalries in the NBA, this Lakers versus Celtics matchup will be one of the week’s top games. All eyes will be on the Celtics since they are currently No. 1 in offense and rarely turn the ball over. The star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will have their hands full against those pesky Lakers, though.
Dec. 14, 16, and 17: Portland’s Texas Trip
The Portland Trail Blazers will visit Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets. This trip will be a success if they can win two out of these three contests. However, one problem they could face will be the timing of their game against the Rockets. Playing the Rockets would normally seem like an easy win, but this particular game happens to be on the second night of a back-to-back.
Dec. 14: Indiana Pacers vs. Golden State Warriors
Revenge game for Stephen Curry? The last time the Warriors and Pacers met, Andrew Nembhard had himself a game by scoring 31 points and dishing out 13 assists. Social media was quick to point out that Nembhard outplayed Curry. Curry only had 12 points and six assists, so everyone expects a bounce-back game from the sharpshooter.
Dec. 14 and 17: Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers
The Mavericks and the Cavaliers only meet twice every year, and those two meetings are happening next week. Donovan Mitchell must be looking forward to these games since he has some score to settle. The last time he faced the Mavericks, he was part of a Utah Jazz team that got eliminated from the Playoffs. Mitchell has a new team now. Will the results be better this time?
