The sixth week (November 21 to 27) of the NBA season happens to coincide with the start of the Qatar World Cup. If that is not enough, the NFL will also be broadcasting their Thanksgiving Day games on Thursday.
No need to worry, though, because there are enough NBA games to grab your attention in what can be a busy week for sports fans out there.
Nov. 21: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks
It’s time to see which team has the better backcourt. Is it the Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell tandem with the Cavaliers? Or is it the “DejounTrae Duo” of Dejounte Murray and Trae Young with the Hawks? Before you start debating, keep in mind that Garland just scored 50 points in a game recently.
Nov. 21: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New York Knicks
You know the Knicks have this game circled in the calendar of their locker room. The last time they met, the Knicks did not show up defensively. Everything started well when the Knicks scored 48 points in the first quarter, but they gave up 43 points in the second and third quarters. The end result? A 145-135 loss in Madison Square Garden.
Nov. 22: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Brooklyn Nets
When James Harden left the Nets, everyone thought that it was a bad idea on Harden’s part. Fast forward several months and now it seems like he made the right choice. Fortunately, Brooklyn’s off-court drama was something that Harden somehow avoided. This match may not feature Harden, but Kevin Durant facing a rejuvenated Joel Embiid is still an interesting battle.
Nov. 25 and 26: Utah Jazz in back-to-back road games
Playing two games in two nights against the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns should put the Jazz to the ultimate test. If they survive this two-day ordeal, teams have no choice but to take them seriously. No one expected the freshly renovated Jazz squad to compete and win games this early. Maybe fans should stop saying that luck had something to do with their hot start.
Nov. 27: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Dallas Mavericks
Luka Doncic is always a “must-watch.” Slovenia’s best player at 23 years of age, he will be considered one of the stars this year, no doubt. Pitting Doncic against Giannis Antetokounmpo? What else can you ask for? Don’t worry too much if you miss this game, though, because these teams face each other again in less than two weeks.
