NBA Europe Expansion: Dallas Mavericks Are Planning to Play Real Madrid During the Preseason

Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have had an excellent run over the years, but things have never been better than they are now with Luka Doncic on their team. With this young basketball star’s popularity rising by the day, the Mavericks have been hoping to bank on it by organizing a preseason game significant to his sports journey. The best options would be an NBA match set in his home of Slovenia or an exhibition match against Real Madrid, the team that gave him his debut and helped him climb through the ranks as a tenured player.

The fans are excited

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s if the people demand it, you have to give them what they want. Luka Doncic has been showing off his basketball prowess and impressing avid sports fans worldwide for years now. His stint with the Dallas Mavericks is just the latest success in his player journey, and this time, he’s amassed an audience ready to root for him straight to the finals! Of course, many of them have connected with him on a more personal level beyond the sport, so although off-season, a significant match like this one is a big deal.

Of course, Mavericks owner Marc Cuban gets a chance to flex his business shark muscles while organizing this event. Plenty of work goes into a performance like this, and the profit potential is immense! With the rise of online sports betting, fans can join in on this trend as well. The event will likely be covered by the best sportsbooks around, and with newer betting apps making rounds, placing a bet to extrapolate your experience is as easy as pie. Supporting your favorites while making clean predictions is always an interesting experience.

It’s in the works

While nothing is ever 100 percent certain in the sports world, it’s safe to say the Mavericks are working hard to set something up. To be more exact, Cuban has stated that an exhibition match against Real Madrid is in the works for the 2023 preseason. According to his statement, a preseason match played in Slovenia might be a bit of a stretch, but the possibility of a play-off against Real Madrid is very real. This would depend heavily on the league, as an agreement on logistics from both teams and the NBA is required for things to go any further.

The good news: we’re sure Mark Cuban is working on it hard and giving his best shot to get things in order. The Mavericks owner is vehement about reaching his goals, and if we look at his history, he has an excellent track record of getting what he wants.

Things are getting heated

Doncic made headlines by becoming the top player in the EuroLeague by the time he reached 19 years of age. He’s earned the title of MVP in the EuroLeague, along with MVP of the Final Four, and an official honor as one of the top five players in the competition. Now playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the US, he’s a fierce competitor hoping to lead the team through the ranks and get his first NBA Championship ring.

The Mavericks aren’t the only ones putting in the effort this season. Redemption is something rivals are more focused on nowadays. After a pretty disappointing previous year, the Spurs are looking to get back on track and hopefully redeem themselves in the eyes of the league and fans alike. Things are still looking a bit shaky right now, but with the raw talent in its roster, there’s still a chance for the team to push through and make the playoffs.
