NBA DFS: Opening Night Bubble Edition

The NBA is back! The bubble is secured of all things corona and it’s time to get back to meaningful basketball. The Utah Jazz starts things off with a matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. This is a huge game for the Pelicans as they fight for the eighth and final playoff spot. The late game will be the battle of Los Angeles with the Clippers and Lakers. Both LA teams are firmly locked into the playoffs so we will have to wait and see how many minutes the stars will be playing. Now let’s jump right into my core four for tonight’s slate.

Core Four

Kawhi Leonard (9,500 FD and 9,200 DK)

Leonard played some good minutes in the Clippers scrimmage against the Kings on Monday. He struggled with his shot but seeing him play 30 minutes was promising. If he’s able to find the shot then he will be one of the highest scorers on the slate. Leonard still scores fantasy points even when he does struggle to score. He’s a great defender and he can score points with steals and blocks. Look for Leonard to fill the stat sheet and be the top fantasy scorer tonight.

J.J. Redick (4,000 FD and 3,600 DK) and Jrue Holiday (8,300 FD and 8,600 DK)

With there being no fans in the stands. shooters are going to be lights out. They can focus on the rim and dial in there shot. I like both of the Pelicans shooting guards in this matchup. When Reddick catches fire, he can put up some points. He showed that in their scrimmage games shooting 3-5 from three on Saturday and 4-7 on Monday. If he can get hot he’s going to be a great value play tonight.

Holiday is the focal point of the Pelicans offense. He will look to pick up right where he left off in March. Holiday was averaging nearly 20 points per game before the season shut down. He has triple-double potential and will look to lead the Pelicans to the playoffs. Look for him to have a great game and be worth paying up for as the top shooting guard on FanDuel and DraftKings.

Reggie Jackson (3,800 FD and 4,600 DK)

With Lou Williams being out and Patrick Beverley not participating in the morning shootaround, Jackson is going to need to step up. He is going to see some big minutes for the Clippers. He should be able to fill the stat sheet tonight. The point guard position is very thin on FanDuel tonight and with Jacksons price, he will likely be chalk. However, he will be worth playing and I’m looking for him to be somewhere around 15 points, five rebounds, and seven assists.

Good luck with your lineups and enjoy the return of the NBA!
