NASCAR Cup Series DFS: Alsco Uniforms 500

The NASCAR Cup Series schedule is starting to pick up. This will be the fourth Cup Race since returning on May 17th. They will once again be at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Wednesday nights race will be only 500 km and just like last Wednesday, there will be no qualifying or practice. They will invert the field just like last week as well so, 1-20 will be flipped and 21-40 will start were they finished Sunday.

Sunday night was the longest race of the year. The scheduled distance was 600 miles but due to a late caution, it pushed the race into overtime. Chase Elliot was well on his way to winning the race before teammate William Byron blew a tire with two laps remaining. That caused some strategy to be played and Elliot decided to take four tires while other drivers decided to stay out on old tires. Clean air was ultimately king and Brad Keselowski was able to grab the lead on the restart and win the race.

Due to this being a shorter race, my strategy is going to be a little different than normal. Because of the way the lineup is set and how DraftKings has the pricing, the better value drivers are starting way too high. That’s why I’m going to save salary avoiding some of the higher-priced drivers and try and nail the mid-range drivers. I’ll be providing you with a great core of four drivers. Now let’s dive into my top drivers for Wednesday nights race.

Dominator

Martin Truex Jr (9,400 DK and 14,000 FD)

Truex had one of the fastest cars on Sunday. He led 87 laps and has shown the ability to dominate Charlotte races in the past. He will also be starting in the 15th position so, that will give him a good opportunity to pick up place differential points. His price is probably the cheapest he will be all year and on DraftKings. He is the sixth most expensive driver, despite being the highest-scoring fantasy driver Sunday night. He can easily dominate this race and I expect him to be one of the highest-scoring drivers again Wednesday night.

Mid-Value

Ryan Blaney (7,900 DK and 10,400 FD)

Blaney had a very strong car Sunday night. He showed a lot of strength and made strong passes, even though passing was hard to come by. He started mid-pack and worked his way up throughout the race. He was battling all race and finally got up into the top ten. Then his teammate Joey Logano got loose and forced Blaney to lift and fall back out of the top ten. That didn’t stop him from bouncing his way back up into the top five before ultimately finishing third. He will be starting 18th so look for Blaney to run a similar race to Sunday and get another top-five finish.

Bubba Wallace (8,300 DK and 5,000 FD)

Wallace had some mechanical issues that forced him to retire from the race early on Sunday. He was having a very solid run up until the issues. Since he had to head to the garage early he finished in 38th so that is where he will start Wednesday. That gives him plenty of room for improvement. In his two previous races at Charlotte he finished 25th and 16th. If he can get into the 15-20th range he will be a strong value driver even though his price is a little high.

Value Drivers

Ty Dillon (6,300 DK and 5,000 FD)

Dillon shows a lot of potential in some races but sometimes doesn’t get the finishes he deserves. He will often surprise you and run in the top 15 but will fade as the race goes on. Wednesday night he will be starting 25th. With the way the lineup is set for the race, a lot of your usual value drivers are starting higher than normal. That makes Dillon one of the best value drivers on this slate. He has finished in between 21-25 in his last four Charlotte races. With this being a shorter race, look for Dillon to use some strategy to get a solid top 20 finish.
