Myles Garrett Reinstated by the NFL

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was reinstated by the NFL on Wednesday.

The reinstatement comes two days after Garrett met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the league office in New York.

Garrett had been suspended indefinitely since week 10 of last season. During a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Garrett ripped Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph’s helmet off and hit him in the head with the helmet. Garrett appealed the suspension and claimed that Rudolph incited him with a racial slur, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN. The suspension was upheld. Garrett was also fined $45,623.

“We welcome Myles back to our organization with open arms,” Browns’ general manager Andrew Berry said in a statement. “We know he is grateful to be reinstated, eager to put the past behind him and continue to evolve and grow as a leader. We look forward to having his strong positive presence back as a teammate, player, and person in our community.”

Before the suspension, Garret had 10 sacks and two forced fumbles. Garrett has 30.5 sacks through his first three seasons. That is the most sacks by a Browns player during the first three years of their career. Garrett’s return is good news for the Browns since their defense struggled after he got suspended. The Browns were 6-10 last season.

Garrett will be able to participate in the Browns’ offseason activities. Hopefully, he won’t cause any problems and have a good year next season.
