Tomas Murphy had a debut to remember for Northeastern on Friday evening.
Playing against rival Boston University, Northeastern needed everything it could get from the brother of former Husky forward, Alex Murphy, who graduated last season.
The freshman forward recorded 15 points and came down with six boards to lead the Huskies past the Terriers, 65-59.

With 6:12 to go in the first half, Anthony Green slammed home a dunk to push Northeastern ahead, 19-18.
The Huskies continued to extend their lead, and took a 9-point cushion into the break after a Murphy dunk with two ticks to go.
The Terriers wouldn’t so quietly though, and with 7:05 to go it was all of a sudden a 3-point game. Unfortunately for BU, it missed a pair of 3-pointers as it went 3:05 without a basket. It wasn’t much better on offense for the Huskies, who went scoreless for a span of 3:53, before Vesa Pusica connected on a layup to make the score 53-48 with 4:22 remaining.
A 4-0 run by Murphy alone made it a 57-50 contest with 2:08 left, and Northeastern held on.
Also having a good game for the Huskies were Devon Begley (10 points and six rebounds), Green (10 points) and Pusica (nine points and seven assists).
Cheddi Mosely led the Terriers in scoring with 12 points off the bench. Cedric Hankerson had a rough night from the field, shooting 4 of 12, which included 2 of 7 from 3-point land, as he was held to 10 points.
BU will host Albany (1-0) on Monday at 7 p.m. as it looks to get on track.
Northeastern will remain home for a game against Wentworth on Sunday at 4 p.m.
