This Monday Night matchup is a rematch of Super Bowl XLIV. The Saints were able to win that matchup and I expect the same thing to happen in this one. The Colts, however, are in a must-win scenario as they are basically eliminated from the playoffs baring some crazy scenarios. The Saints need to win to keep up with the other three (Seahawks, 49ers, and Packers) 11-3 teams in the NFC for playoff home-field advantage. Here are my top players in this matchup.
FanDuel MVP
Michael Thomas (12,600 DK and 15,500 FD)
Thomas is a beast and there’s no reason he doesn’t keep that up. The Colts defense gives up 245.4 yards per game. Thomas averages nearly 110 yards per game. He has scored over 100 yards and one touchdown in six games this year. Look for Thomas to keep that going and put up another game of over 100 yards and one touchdown.
DraftKings Captain
Jacoby Brissett (13,500 DK Captain, 9,000 DK, and 14,000 FD)
Brissett started off the year on a very high note. He threw 2 plus touchdowns in his first four-game. Since then he has only thrown for 2 plus touchdowns in two out of eight games. In those eight games, he was unable to throw for a touchdown in four of those. Look for Brissett to step up in this game and throw a couple of touchdowns against a Saints defense who has allowed 24 passing touchdowns this year. His salary at the Captain spot is also a lot cheaper than Thomas’s. That will help you get some of the other flex players I listed below.
Flex Players
Jack Doyle (6,600 DK and 10,500 FD)
The Saints defense has been middle of the pack bs tight ends this year. They have given up 649 yards per game and four touchdowns. With Eric Ebron out in this game that makes Doyle the go-to target in terms of tight ends. Look for Doyle to get things going in the middle of the field.
Zach Pascal (8,000 DK and 11,500 FD)
Pascal has played 100% of snaps in his last two games. If TY Hilton is out again then Pascal will be the number one target again. If he does end up playing then Pascal will still get 90% of snaps and Hilton will probably just be a decoy. I expect the Colts to be down in this game and have to throw from behind. The game script works out perfect for Pascal and you can expect him to have another good game.
Tre’Quan Smith (3,000 DK and 7,500 FD)
Smith has caught a touchdown in three of the seven games he has played this year. He is touchdown or bust though. However, in these single games, that is all you need out of someone like Smith that will save you salary. Smith has played over 70% of snaps in the last two weeks. Look for Smith to snag a touchdown and save you salary to be able to afford Thomas and Brissett.
Game Predictions
This game would be a lot better if Andrew Luck did not retire. Brissett hasn’t played bad this year but he has not played nearly to the level Luck has. The Saints are going to win this game comfortably and continue playing here chances at a first-round bye in the playoffs. Final score 31-24 as the Saints jump out to an early lead and don’t look back.
Player Predictions
Thomas: 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Brissett: 276 total yards and two touchdowns.
Doyle: 68 receiving and one touchdown.
Pascal: 96 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Smith: 39 yards and one touchdown
