Monday Night Football DFS: Week 14

Brandon Braasch | December 9th, 2019

This Monday Night Football game is a matchup between two NFC East teams. The Philadelphia Eagles play at home vs the New York Giants. The Eagles are 5-7 and the Giants are 2-10. It might be hard to believe but if the Eagles win this game, that will put them into a tie in first place at 6-7 for the NFC East. Here are my top players in this matchup.

DraftKings Captain and Fanduel MVP

Saquon Barkley (15,900 DK Captain, 10,600 DK, and 13,500 FD)

Barkley has struggled to get things going after his injury. He has not run for over 100 yards since he got hurt. Not all of that is on Barkley obviously, the Giants are 2-10 and just are not that great of a football team. Although, last year in Barkley’s rookie season, he had two very good games against the Eagles. He ran for a total of 231 yards and two touchdowns. Look for Barkley to get things going again against this struggling Eagles defense.

Flex Players

Zach Ertz (9,400 DK and 13,500 FD)

Ertz has had a lot of success against the Giants in his career. He has scored five touchdowns against them, which is more than any other team. The Giants on paper haven’t really given up much to tight ends all year. However, I would not put too much into that because they haven’t played a team that uses tight ends like the Eagles. I would say arguably the best tight end they have played all year has been Jason Witten. Look for Ertz to have a big game and help keep the Eagles in playoff contention.

Carson Wentz (11,800 DK and 15,500 FD)

Wentz is getting his weapons back and finally starting to play better. He is coming off his third game of 300 or more passing yards this season. He gets another great matchup against a poor secondary. The Giants’ defense gives up 258.6 passing yards per game. Look for Wentz to carve up the Giants’ secondary.

Kaden Smith (2,200 DK and 8,500 FD)

Smith has filled in for an injured Evan Engram. He had six receptions for 70 yards last week. Eli Manning is going to be the Giants’ quarterback this week after Daniel Jones went down with an injury. Manning loves throwing to his tight ends. He targeted Engram 22 times in his only two starts this year. Look for Manning to look to his tight ends to get going early in this game.

Dallas Goedert (4,800 DK and 9,000 FD)

I know it is crazy to go with three tight ends in a single game slate. To win these contests you have to go against the grain because there are only so many lineup combinations. Goedert has actually seen five or more targets in his last five games. The Eagles run a lot of two tight end sets and that will allow both tight ends opportunities all game.

Game Predictions

Both these teams have struggled this year. The Eagles had high expectations and the Giants were expected to take a step forward not backward. The Eagles would have to win there last 4 games to get back to their 2018 record. The Giants would have to win three of the last four to get back to their 2018 win total.

This game is going to be a great bounce-back opportunity for the Eagles. They will win this game and gain some momentum going into a huge game vs the Dallas Cowboys in two weeks. The Eagles defense will play better and the offense will pick things up where they left off last week vs the Miami Dolphins. Final score 30-17 as the Eagles go back into a first-place tie with the Cowboys.

Player Predictions

Barkley: 108 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards, and one touchdown.

Ertz: 88 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Wentz: 308 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Smith: 78 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Goedert: 64 receiving yards and one touchdown.
