Monday Night Football DFS: Week 1

James Conner

After a great slate of Sunday football games, Monday night football will have its traditional two games for week one. The first game is a matchup between AFC and NFC. The Pittsburgh Steelers head into the Meadowlands to take on the New York Giants. The second game will feature the Tennessee Titans going into Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos. Both games will have some intriguing matchups. Below you’ll see my top players for each game. I’ll provide my top DraftKings Captain, FanDuel MVP, and some utility players for each game. They will also all be solid plays in full roster slates. Now let’s get started.

Steelers vs Giants

DraftKings Captain and Fanduel MVP

James Conner (DK Captain $15,400 | FD $13,000)

The return of Ben Roethlisberger will only help Conner. The Steelers offense will be much better and therefore Conner will have more running lanes and touchdown opportunities. Mike Tomlin came out last week and said that Conner was their “Bell Cow.” There are no questions who the Steelers will look to in their running attack. Conner also had 34 receptions last season, so he can make an impact in all phases of the offense.

Utility Players

Golden Tate (DK $6,800 | FD $9,500)

Jones and Tate showed a lot of Chemistry last season. They connected for six touchdowns. Tate also scored over 10 fantasy points in every game Jones played in except for one. That one game was their first game together. Tate is questionable with a hamstring though, so keep an eye on that before the game. If he plays, look for him and Jones to pick up where they left off last season with another solid game.

Evan Engram (DK $8,000 | FD $11,000)

Engram is healthy and if he stays that way, he is expected to have a big season. He’s a nice security blanket for Daniel Jones and a big body in the end zone. Engram had a big week one last season with 116 yards and one touchdown. He also gets a decent matchup to begin this season. The Steelers gave up eight touchdowns to tight ends last season. Look for Engram to start his 2020 season with a good game.

Titans vs Broncos

DraftKings Captain

Jerry Jeudy (DK Captain $10,800 | FD $8,000)

Jeudy is a rookie and he will likely be the Broncos main target at receiver this week. It’s risky to play him at Captain but it’s a risk worth taking. Cortland Sutton is questionable and even if he does play he might just be a decoy. Jeudy will line up a lot in the slot and he’s an excellent route runner for young quarterback Drew Lock. Look for Jeudy to burst on the scene with a great game on Monday night football.

FanDuel MVP

Drew Lock (DK $9,600 | FD $14,500)

Lock is starting his first full-time season as starting quarterback for the Broncos. Last season he made only five starts. Because of those five starts, he impressed the Broncos enough to surround him with a lot of talent. This season will be a great test for Lock as a lot of people have high hopes for this Broncos football season team. The Titan’s defense is good against the run. The Bronco’s offense is going to have to move the ball through the air to win this game. Look for Lock to do just that and start his 2020 season off strong.

Utility Player

A.J. Brown (DK $8,600 | FD $11,500)

The Titans offense is going to struggle to get things going early. Derrick Henry had his worst game of the season at Mile high last year. Brown didn’t have a good game against the Broncos last season either. However, he was just a rookie and this season they will find more ways to get him the ball. Fade Henry and play Brown on this slate.
