The Washington Nationals took Game One of the World Series from the Houston Astros last night 5-4. Tonight we get another great pitching matchup as Justin Verlander and Stephen Strasburg will take the bump. Let’s check out our options for the Showdown.

Adam Eaton ($10,500 Captain, $7,000 Utility) – The Nationals’ right fielder is riding a five-game hitting streak and had two hits last night. He bats second in the lineup between speedster Trea Turner and Anthony Rendon which certainly doesn’t hurt. Verlander has been susceptible to the home run ball this season surrendering 36 longballs in 34 starts. So far this postseason he has given up five HRs in 24.1 innings. Although Eaton isn’t a masher, he did bang 15 HRs during the season. With his price and the ability to run into one tonight, there is a clear benefit in having him as your Captain.
Stephen Strasburg ($15,900 Captain, $10,600 Utility) – With the way Strasburg has pitched not just in this postseason but for his career, he is a must in your lineups. The floor is there. In his last five postseason starts, he has struck out 10+ in four of them (seven in the other) and has only allowed an earned run in two of them (the most was three). The Astros haven’t seen much of Strasburg, and the only two players on their roster to have hits off of the Washington righty are Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman. Roll Stras out with confidence.
Juan Soto ($13,200 Captain, $8,800 Utility) – The kid is for real. In the last two games, he is 5-8 with a couple of doubles, a HR, and four RBI. He won’t cost you as much as Altuve or Rendon and Soto has as much a chance as anyone to go yard against the aforementioned HR-prone Verlander.
George Springer ($13,800 Captain, $9,200 Utility) – If you like trends, well here is a play for you. Springer has hit a HR in five straight World Series games. If you are going to have anyone from the Astros lineup in, he should be your guy. At his price, he is slightly cheaper than Altuve and Bregman and is the most likely to go yard especially with the wind blowing out to left-center at about 10 mph.
***Notes – A nice little stack to roll with is Victor Robles, Trea Turner, and Adam Eaton. They bat ninth, first, and second respectively in the Nationals’ order. With the three of them costing a total of $22,800, if none are your Captain, you leave yourself $27,200 for the rest of your lineup.
