MLB DFS Tuesday Tiers

MLB DFS Tuesday Tiers

With 10 games on the 7 pm EDT slate on DraftKings, we are going to change up the format a bit. For this edition of DFS, I will tier the players according to salary and give you a couple of hitters for each tier, pitchers will have their own tiers. Plenty of options tonight so let’s get right to building our lineups and making some money in DFS. On another note, there looks like rain in Chicago for the White Sox and Cubs so I will stay away from those players.

Be sure to check us out daily for our DFS content.

On the Mound

Top Tier ($9,000+)

Joe Ryan @ Baltimore Orioles ($9,500)

Ryan has been one of the hottest pitchers in MLB lately. He currently has a 17-inning scoreless streak going. During that time, he has allowed just seven hits and two walks while striking out 17. Tonight, he faces the Orioles who have struck out more than any team in the American League, nearly 10 times per game. This one is almost a no-brainer in cash games.

Mid-Range ($7,500-$8,900)

Brandon Woodruff vs. Cincinnati Reds ($8,900)

While Woodruff has struggled in his two games on the road this year, he hasn’t allowed a run at home. As a matter of fact, he has been nearly unhittable allowing just a .299 OPS in his two home starts. The Reds have been historically bad to begin the 2022 campaign. They have the worst OPS in baseball at .582 and only the Kansas City Royals score fewer runs per game. Adding to Cincinnati’s woes is that defending Rookie of the Year Jonathan India is on the IL. Lock in Woodruff tonight.

Paul Blackburn vs. Tampa Bay Rays ($7,700)

The A’s righty has been excellent this season, including five shutout innings of the Rays in his first start. Blackburn has a sparkling 18/2 K/BB rate, and he also hasn’t allowed a home run yet. The Rays have struggled a bit on offense recently, scoring more than three runs in just four of their last 10 and not plating more than six in any of those games.

The Bargain (Under $7,400)

Cristian Javier vs. Seattle Mariners ($6,800)

Javier will stay in the rotation for now after his first start of the year last Wednesday against the Texas Rangers. Although he was a little iffy with his command, he got the win and tossed 84 pitches. The Seattle offense has cooled down a little scoring two or fewer runs in four of their last six games including getting shut out last night by the Astros.

The Hitters

Top Tier ($5,000+)

Mike Trout, OF ($6,100)

Trout went 0-for-4 yesterday with four strikeouts. Do you think he comes back with a vengeance? I certainly do. He has yet to go two games in a row without reaching base. I would be betting on that streak still standing.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B ($5,000)

Goldy nearly went the whole month of April without a homer. He finally hit one on the 29th, and he hit another last night. The power is coming for the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman. Brad Keller is starting for Kansas City tonight and has a solid 2.19 ERA. However, his BABIP against is just .182 so regression is coming. It could happen tonight.

Bo Bichette, SS ($5,000)

Bichette has been starting to heat up. Over his last three games he is 5-for-12 with a homer and a stolen base. The pitcher on the mound for the Yankees is certainly hittable this season. Jameson Taillon has given up 22 hits in 19.1 innings and opponents have an .803 OPS against him. Bichette is 3-for-10 with a double against Taillon in his career.

Mid-Range ($4,000-$4,900)

Juan Soto, OF ($4,800)

Soto in Coors Field? What more could you want? Plus, he is facing German Marquez, who is having a rough time this season allowing an .842 OPS to opposing hitters. In Soto’s career, he has a 1.025 OPS against right-handed pitchers. Lock him in as he will be my HR Call tonight.

Josh Bell, 1B ($4,500)

While Soto gets all the hype, Bell has actually been Washington’s best hitter so far. The first baseman has slashed .351/.457/.506. That OBP mark leads the NL. He gets to hit in Colorado tonight and that alone should make Bell an easy decision to get in a few of your lineups.

Anthony Rendon, 3B ($4,400)

While Rendon hasn’t put up spectacular numbers, he is consistently giving us points. The power has also come around as he is driving the ball more. Of his seven extra-base hits this year, six have come in the last 10 games. That includes five doubles. He gets to play in Fenway Park tonight against an old rival from the NL in Michael Wacha who Rendon is 3-for-10 against in his career.

Lower Tier ($3,000-$3,900)

Rowdy Tellez, 1B ($3,900)

Even though the Brewers couldn’t break through against Marcus Stroman on Sunday, it doesn’t mean Tellez was bad. I picked him that day and he at least gave us a couple of walks. I am going back to the well tonight. Call it a hunch, but I think Tellez can do some damage against Tyler Mahle and the Reds bullpen.

Cesar Hernandez, 2B ($3,500)

As you can tell from the Soto and Bell picks, the Nationals stack is definitely in play. Hernandez bats leadoff for Washington and has a nice little eight-game hitting streak going. Get him in there and Nelson Cruz at $3,700 might not be bad if you are feeling really bold against the Rockies.

Bargain Basement (Under $2,900)

Bobby Witt Jr., 3B ($2,900)

Despite missing a couple of games, the rookie phenom is back. He currently has a 10-game hitting streak and has three of his four stolen bases in his last eight games. The kid is starting to find his game at the major league level. He will continue that tonight.

Rougned Odor, 2B ($2,700)

Odor hit his first bomb of the year on Sunday and followed that up yesterday with a triple. At this price, he is worth a flier in some tournaments banking on the fact that he may be getting hot.

Good luck on your lineups in MLB DFS tonight.
