MLB DFS September 24: Short Slate at 8

MLB DFS September 24: Short Slate at 8

There is a tidy three-game short slate on DraftKings tonight featuring battles of division rivals and the final start of the season by a Cy Young hopeful. Let’s dive into MLB DFS for September 24.

Pitchers

Corbin Burnes ($11,000) at St. Louis Cardinals

Brunes has a shot to deprive Jacob deGrom of a three-peat and deny Trevor Bauer his first Cy Young Award. He has been absolutely unhittable over his last five starts:

29 2/3 IP
16 H
1 ER
6 BB
47 K
0 HR
0.30 ERA
Opp. OPS .386

He has struck out double-digits in three of those starts and has thrown over 90 pitches in all of them. Burnes has something to play for as does Milwaukee as they will be tied with St. Louis for the final spot in the National League playoffs with a victory tonight.

Kris Bubic ($8,900) vs. Detroit Tigers

The Royals lefty has settled in lately and even showed his strikeout upside. Over his last four starts, he has thrown 22 2/3 innings and struck out 25 while walking nine. It is not great by any means, but it is solid. In that time he has also only allowed five ER and 17 hits while lowering his ERA nearly two whole points (5.96 to 3.97). The Tigers have only scored 30 runs in their last 10 games and have been shut out in three of those. Bubic is a great value play here to upgrade a batter or two.

Infield

Hunter Dozier ($5,800) vs. Detroit Tigers

Dozier loves the friendly confines of Kauffman Stadium. He is slashing .333/.443/.591 at home this year compared to .165/.283/.278 on the road. Dozier has seven multi-hit games this season and six of them have come at home. He also gets to face Michael Fulmer who has given up 38 hits (seven HRs) in 23 2/3 innings and has an 8.17 ERA. Get Dozier in your lineups.

Miguel Cabrera ($4,200) at Kansas City Royals

Yeah, I know…we are rolling with Bubic here but hey… we can play both sides a bit, especially in cash games. Cabrera has been tearing it up the past three games and had two bombs with six RBIs yesterday. At this price, and against a rookie who is a lefty to boot, roll with Miggy.

Outfield

George Springer ($8,500) at Texas Rangers

He is facing Lance Lynn who can be a tough matchup, but Springer has been having a very good September. He is slashing .299/.358/.621 with eight HRs this month. The Houston center fielder has also reached base in 21 of the 22 games he has played in September. Count in the 20 runs scored and 11 RBIs and he offers a fairly safe floor in cash games and will likely be little-owned in tournaments.

Ryan Braun ($4,600) at St. Louis Cardinals

Braun had the day off yesterday. Since he returned to the lineup regularly on August 11, he is 11-30 after a day off. The Brewers veteran has been hot lately as well, blasting four HRs in his last 10 games with a 1.103 OPS. Go with the cheaper price here as Braun offers great upside batting third in the lineup tonight.
