MLB DFS October 23: World Series Game 3

With the World Series now tied 1-1, tonight’s Game 3 will be a big one. The pitching matchup is a good one, with Walker Buehler taking the ball for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Charlie Morton toeing the slab for the Tampa Bay Rays. With that said, let’s see how we can win some cash on the showdown for MLB DFS for October 23.

Captain

Corey Seager ($15,300)

The Dodgers shortstop has shown no signs of slowing down after hitting his seventh homer of the postseason in Game 2. Seager is currently slashing .302/.387/.774 in the postseason with those seven bombs and 16 RBI. He has recorded a multi-hit game in five of the Dodgers’ 13 playoff games. The former Rookie of the Year has also gotten on base in all but three of them. While he hasn’t faced Morton in his career, the right-handed matchup is a favorable one.

Utility

Cody Bellinger ($9,000)

Bellinger went hitless in Game 2 but did get a walk. He had hit a homer in back-to-back games (NLCS Game 7, World Series Game 1) prior to that. His homer in Game 1 broke the scoreless tie. Bellinger was struggling to find anything in the postseason before that but now can get on a roll.

Ji-Man Choi ($7,400)

Choi sat Game 1 in favor of a platoon matchup for Yandy Diaz against Clayton Kershaw. The first baseman then went 1-for-3 in Game 2 with two runs scored. With right-hander Morton starting, Choi will likely get the start again. He has a career 127 wRC+ against righties, nearly double his 64 wRC+ against southpaws. He hasn’t hit a homer since Game 5 of the ALCS and he is my home run call tonight.

Value

Manuel Margot ($5,600)

Somehow Margot is this cheap even though he has been one of the Rays’ best hitters this postseason. He is slashing .283/.353/.609 with five homers and 11 RBI so far. He has gotten at least one hit in seven of the last eight games and went 3-for-3 with a run scored in Game 2. Margot has hit out of the fifth spot in each of the first two games. Facing a same-handed pitcher shouldn’t be a problem as he actually has almost three times the plate appearances against righties as opposed to lefties the last two seasons.
