MLB DFS: Late Slate

MLB DFS: Late Slate

Today we roll with the two-game evening slate on DraftKings. The New York Yankees take on the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of their series, while upstart San Diego Padres meet with their division rival Los Angeles Dodgers to kick off their best-of-five battle. It’s important to note the locations of these games: The Yankees-Rays series is at Petco Park in San Diego. The Padres-Dodgers series will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX.

Pitchers

There is quite a conundrum tonight because all four of the starters have question marks. Mike Clevinger ($9,900) is the most expensive and is returning to face the best team in the majors this season after getting hurt in his last start nearly two weeks ago. Opposing him is Walker Buehler ($8,500), who hasn’t thrown more than 75 pitches in a game since Aug. 21. He got pulled in his last start to avoid facing the top of the Milwaukee Brewers lineup a third time.

For the Rays, Tyler Glasnow ($9,300) has a great strikeout floor having struck out at least seven in each of his last nine starts. He has also given up seven homers over his last 24 innings. The Yankees lineup is downright scary at the moment. Deivi Garcia ($7,200) is by far the cheapest pitcher on this slate. The 21-year-old has only six major league starts on his resume. While he sports a nice 33/6 K/BB rate, he has also allowed 35 hits and six HRs in 34 1/3 IP.

Advice: Take the two least expensive pitchers in Buehler and Garcia. None of the pitchers are a lock to perform tonight and the extra cash can be spent on building a couple mini-stacks or paying up for the guy with a solid floor in cash games.

Hitters

DJ LeMahieu ($5,100)

Another day, another multi-hit game. In his last five contests, LeMahieu has gone 11-for-23 and has four multi-hit games. There is a reason they call him “The Machine” in New York. With the Bronx Bombers scoring 31 runs over their three playoff games, it is also safe to say DJ will be crossing home plate at least once.

Wil Myers ($4,800)

People tend to forget about Myers. The kid is still only 29 years old and is in the midst of the best season of his career. The power is real and he has been squaring up the ball better this year. He went 4-for-12 with two big HRs against St. Louis in the first round. Look for Myers to continue hitting the ball well. While he only has one hit in six at-bats against Buehler in his career, that one hit is went over the wall.

Chris Taylor ($4,200)

Talyor should be manning second base tonight. He has a solid floor, even batting at the bottom of the lineup. This is a great value play if you are looking to save a few bucks and possibly use a 9-1-2 stack of Dodgers with Taylor, Mookie Betts, and Corey Seager.

Aaron Hicks ($3,600)

The Yankee centerfielder batted third last night and had three hits. At this price, you could roll with a Yankee mini-stack as well with LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, and Hicks.
