MLB DFS July 26: Livi's Fave Five

Wow! We are back with my Fave Five!! Only this time I’m covering MLB as well! Oh, how we’ve missed you. We are still currently under a deadly pandemic known as the CoronaVirus. However, baseball is being played, but unfortunately with no fans. We are back though and ready to help all of you win some big money tonight! Let’s get right to it and play ball!

Corey Kluber, SP, Texas Rangers vs Colorado Rockies

Kluber is a former Cy Young winner going against a Rockies team playing on the road. If the Rockies aren’t in Coors Field, they are basically a Triple-A team. Kluber has a full arsenal of pitches and he will be making his first start of the year.

He is coming off a pretty decent spring training tune-up, where he pitched 5.2 innings, struck out four, walked three, and allowed four hits. He could easily mow down the Rockies lineup today. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes six-plus innings only allowing two hits and striking out a handful. He’s my lock at pitcher.

Josh Bell, 1B, Pittsburgh Pirates @ St. Louis Cardinals

Bell is coming off a terrific year. He finished last season with 37 homers and 116 RBI. He is looking to continue his impressive career in what should be a very weird upcoming MLB season. (Due to COVID).

Bell gets a juicy matchup vs right-handed Dakota Hudson. Bell absolutely feasted against right-handed pitchers last year and this year should be no exception. He can very easily take Hudson deep today, and might even do it twice. He certainly has the patience to wait for his pitch and lock in. One slip up from Hudson and Bell is gonna obliterate that baseball.

Brandon Lowe 2B, Tampa Bay Rays vs Toronto Blue Jays

Lowe is an exceptional player. He took the league by storm last year blasting 18 homers, 52 RBI, and an OPS of .839! He is a very patient left-handed hitter. Waits for his pitch beautifully, and can make the pitcher work. Thomas Hatch isn’t the type of pitcher that will set the world on fire either. Hatch has never pitched above Double-A and is getting the ball today against a very good Rays offense.

Lowe will capitalize on Hatch’s flaws and raw skills and make him pay. Hatch will certainly be on a short leash tomorrow, and Lowe will be sure to ruin his day. Lowe is an easy lock for me at the second base position.

Miguel Sano, 3B, Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox

Sano is the definition of a power hitter. However, because he swings so hard, he misses a lot too. He had 35 bombs last year to go along with 80 RBI. He gets a cupcake matchup against Reynaldo Lopez who didn’t really set the world on fire last year until after the All-Star Break.

Sano is a big right-handed batter that loves to tee off on right-handed pitchers. To make matters worse for Lopez, Sano is batting in arguably one of the American League’s most powerful lineups. He will look to continue to rake tomorrow in what should be a fairly high scoring game in the Windy City. Sano could strike out a ton, but if he can make even the slightest contact, that ball is gone. Get him in your lineup and watch him tee off Lopez tomorrow! Heard it here first!

Christian Yelich, OF, Milwaukee Brewers @ Chicago Cubs

Besides the fact that Yelich looks exactly like me, he is one of the best hitters in all of baseball. He had an eye-popping 44 homers last year to go along with 97 RBI. To make those numbers even more impressive, he had an OPS of 1.100!! That’s an extremely impressive season.

Today he gets a matchup against the soft throwing Tyler Chatwood. With a soft throwing Chatwood and a windy ballpark where the ball flies, Yelich is in for a huge day. He is going to take Chatwood deep if not once, but maybe twice tomorrow, making him a LOCK for me in all formats. Yelich is an exceptional hitter with tons of plate discipline. He will make Chatwood work and capitalize on his mistakes. He makes for an easy play here.

That does it for this edition of Fave Five! Hope you guys enjoy it and good luck!!
