MLB DFS Friday Late Night Lineup

MLB DFS Friday Late Night Lineup

We are going to do something a little different for the three-game late-night DFS slate on DraftKings starting at 9:30 pm EDT. Instead of bargains, I am going to set a full lineup that I will be playing in cash games. These are the main players I like tonight and of course, there will be a few changes if you are entering multiple games. This is just a template of the players I like and a set that falls below the $50,000 salary.

In the interest of transparency, my picks on Tuesday didn’t work out so well. However, we come right back with a little twist and will also be back at it on Sunday before the All-Star break. Also, stay tuned for a final mock draft and our live podcast covering the MLB Draft Sunday evening.

Be sure to check us out daily for our DFS content.

On the Mound

Clayton Kershaw @ Los Angeles Angels ($9,400)

Kershaw may not be the workhorse he was earlier in his career, but he has been great, nevertheless. The veteran lefty is 6-2 with a 2.40 ERA and an impeccable 69/12 K/BB rate. He has also allowed just five home runs in 63.2 innings this season. Mike Trout has been dealing with back spasms, and Shohei Ohtani has a .692 OPS against southpaws this year while only three of his 19 homers have come against lefties.

Yu Darvish vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($8,900)

With only six starters on the slate tonight, much of the salary should be spent on two of the top three men on the mound. Darvish has allowed just four hits and one run in his two starts against the Snakes this year. He has averaged nearly 24 DK DFS points over his last six outings as well. The big right-hander absolutely dominates at home, allowing opponents paltry .467 OPS at Petco.

On the Dirt

Catcher – Joey Bart ($2,200)

Bart has been hitting since his recall at the beginning of the month. The former first-round pick is slashing .278/.381/.556 in July. While his overall stats are not great, he seems to have turned it around at least for the time being. Plus, his price is tough to beat.

First Base – Brandon Belt ($3,200)

Over his last five games, Belt has been one of the best hitters in the league. He is next to impossible to get out going 9-for-14 with a couple of doubles and two bombs. He doesn’t have a long history against Brandon Woodruff, but he is 2-for-7 with both hits leaving the yard.

Second Base – Ketel Marte ($4,300)

When you have a small slate, it is inevitable to have a hitter or two against your pitchers. That is the case here. Although I like Darvish, Marte is at a reasonable price. The Diamondbacks second baseman has three doubles and three homers over his last nine starts. That also goes with eight walks and just three strikeouts.

Third Base – Justin Turner ($4,100)

Big Red has been red hot and hasn’t put up a zero since June 27. Since that goose egg, Turner has 20 hits including four home runs in 14 games. He has also only gone hitless in two of those games while garnering multiple-hit games in six.

Shortstop – Trea Turner ($5,900)

We spend a bit here and go with the other Turner on the squad. Trea is working on a five-game hitting streak that has included three multi-hit efforts. Their opponent, left-hander Patrick Sandoval has pitched well this year, but has given up an excessive amount of flyballs recently. I am looking for a couple of the Dodgers right-handed bats to do damage.

On the Grass

Andrew McCutchen ($4,300)

Cutch has his own six-game hitting streak going with three multi-hit games included. He has averaged 11.3 DK DFS points per game in that time and has a couple of home runs. He faces left-hander Alex Wood tonight who struggles against right-handed hitters to the tune of .288/.342/.428. Wood has also allowed seven of his eight homers to righties this season.

Hunter Renfroe ($3,600)

The Brewers right fielder has hit 44 homers in his last 200 games. 16 of them have come against left-handers in just 271 plate appearances. Considering Wood’s stats above, I like Renfroe to go yard tonight.

Mike Yastrzemski ($3,300)

Yaz is a solid fit into the bottom half of the Giants lineup, likely between Belt and Bart. He faces Woodruff tonight and gets a look against a right-handed pitcher as he has a .768 OPS against them this season. That is opposed to a .624 OPS against lefties.

I can see Woodruff and Wood struggle tonight in San Francisco. The Dodgers should jump on Sandoval if he continues to have trouble getting the ball on the ground. This means that it is important to spend up for the dominant pitching to have a chance in cash games. The total salary for this lineup is $49,200 which leaves you $800 to play with and move some pieces around. We will see how this lineup turns out and I will catch you all on Sunday.

Good Luck with all of your DFS lineups.
