MLB DFS Diamond Picks

Knock on wood, we are still moving along strong within the MLB landscape. Here is hoping that the Miami Marlins can overcome the circumstance that they put themselves in. Tuesday they got back to the playing field and squeezed out a victory in Baltimore 4-1. The O’s/ Marlins tilt although not featured heavily in this edition, should be considered. We have plenty to get to so let’s hop right in and make some Diamond Picks for Wednesday, August 5th.

PITCHER

Yu Darvish CHI(at KC)

The upstart Cubbies are on everyone’s radar right now. They have been red-hot out of the gate and will look to keep things going versus a Royals team that ranks 23rd in the bigs with a .668 OPS. They also rank as a middling team in terms of strikeout rate at 23.6%. Current KC Royals players are just 8-for-32 slashing .250/.294/.406 off of Darvish. Darvish has been making huge adjustments to improve the control issues that plagued him during the beginning of his career with the Rangers and briefly in 2018 with the Cubs.

2B Jose Altuve HOU(at ARZ)

The hit-machine that is Jose Altuve is in a great spot tonight versus left-handed flame thrower Robbie Ray tonight. Altuve mashes lefties to the tune of a 1.057 OPS over the course of his career. He also has a nice track record built up versus Ray. He is 6-for-11 with an even 1.000 OPS all toll. The Stros and Altuve will also look to do damage against D-Back relievers. They rank 18th in ERA at 4.46.

Daniel Murphy COL(vs SF)

As it should be, the Rockies are fully in play tonight for stacking. They are off to a great start and are looking to continue to roll with a plus matchup at Coors Field versus Right-hander Logan Webb. Players will be priced up but don’t sleep on Daniel Murphy. Murphy has begun the season nicely and will look to pad his stats off of right-handed pitchers. For his career, Murphy has an OPS .100 points better than his career mark of .727 when matched up against righties.

OUTFIELD

Avisail Garcia MIL(at CHI)

Soft-tosser Dallas Keuchel will take the bump for the White Sox today. The former Cy Young winner is sneaky effective, but the Brewers are also a sneaky good offense. As a team, they are hitting left-handed pitching to the tune of just a .386 slugging(17th) but they do have some righty bats that are worth your attention. Garcia is 8-for-23 with a .897 OPS for his career off the crafty southpaw.

Mike Trout LAA(at SEA)

You may have to get creative if you are going to fit Trout in the lineup (Consider Alex Cobb as SP2 vs MIA). Trout will be pricey but he is very likely to be worthy of your dollar. Over the course of his stellar career Trout has cleared the fence 12 times when the Angles have visited the Mariners. Left-handed throwing Marco Gonzalez is slated to start for Seattle. Trout has gone deep twice vs. Gonzalez and is slashing .429/.515/.750 in 33 career plate appearances.

Hope you enjoyed today’s DFS recommendations, good luck with your lineups!
