MLB DFS: Cheap but Prosperous 4/20

MLB DFS 4/20/2022

In search of inexpensive yet dependable players for daily fantasy? Well, you’ve come to the right place. I have selected five players who have been firing on all cylinders and should be considered for your MLB DFS lineup. Additionally, with a 16-game slate set to take place, today’s action will be far from mundane. With an AL East clash between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox and a tasty interleague matchup in Chicago, it wasn’t an issue to pinpoint talent waiting to prosper.

Make sure to bookmark our DFS page for daily lineup picks.

On the Mound

Daulton Jefferies – vs Baltimore ($6,200)

Note: The Oakland/Baltimore game is part of the 7:05 DK slate, but begins at 6:07pm EDT due to weather

Jefferies has been the center of attention for the Oakland Athletics’ rotation. The 26-year-old has broken straight out of the gates showing early signs of a dependable arm. In his two appearances, Jefferies has composed a 1.93 ERA with four strikeouts, allowing just two runs in the two starts to the loaded Blue Jays lineup. Jefferies is now set to face the scuffled Baltimore Orioles.

Drew Rasmussen – at Chicago Cubs ($7,100)

His 5.00 ERA may be deceiving, as Rasmussen has performed well despite the numbers. In his first appearance (five frames of work), Rasmussen allowed three runs on just five hits, tacking on two strikeouts. In a clash with the division rival Orioles next, Rasmussen delivered three strikeouts while allowing just two runs in four innings. Nevertheless, Rasmussen has his chance to round out the edges as he gets the nod to front the Chicago Cubs.

In the Field

Alex Verdugo, OF – vs Toronto ($4,100)

Verdugo has been the source of the Red Sox’s success on both ends of his game. Both defensively and at the plate, Verdugo has been spot on. Hoisting a .333 batting average, followed by three home runs and eight RBI, the 25-year-old is making a case to bear a resemblance to his 2021 season. In addition, Verdugo and his squad will face the grappling Jose Berrios who has been knocked around as of late. Verdugo’s cost is just $4,100 and should be a clear-cut selection for your lineup.

Jeff McNeil, 2B/OF vs San Francisco ($3,900)

Following a quiet and low-key 2021 season, McNeil is due for a reprise of his 2020 season. Thankfully, the 30-year-old has diminished his 2021 flaws and seems to be back to his former self. Batting .293 with one home run and six RBI, McNeil has prevailed in the early stages of the season. While the second baseman scraped up just one hit in the doubleheader with the Giants yesterday, McNeil hopes to snap back facing Carlos Rodon at 7:10pm.

Ian Happ, OF – vs Tampa Bay ($3,900)

While whacking 25 home runs in 2021, Happ displayed a dreadful .225 batting average. Advancing to the 2022 season, Happ has defied his inconsistency at the dish, evidenced by a formidable .345 batting average. In just 29 plate appearances, Happ has composed 10 hits tailed by six RBI. The center fielder is ambitious to continue his hot streak as he encounters Rasmussen and the Rays. In addition, Happ is quite inexpensive and his recent flourish is worth every cent.
