Here we are, another huge Tuesday 15-game slate on our hands. The big scary DFS players with huge bankrolls will be playing in virtually every contest you enter. Don’t let that scare you off. They basically play every night. Here are some plays to help you keep up with the field while also separating you from the chalk.
Pitching
Noah Syndergaard ($9,600 on Dk)
Jerad Eickhoff ($7,100 on DK)
I’ll be looking to save a little more than normal on this late. Most of the time I’ll spend all the way up for Strasburg or Snell in this spot, but there are a lot of bats in good spots I want to cram into my lineups. Syndergaard has been very up and down and frustrating for much of the year but he’s in a good spot facing a weak San Francisco Giants lineup at home. The Giants are hitting only .222 against righties this year with a .675 OPS. Eickhoff gets to face the Padres in a good pitcher’s park in San Diego. The Padres strikeout 27.1% vs righties and only have a .705 OPS against them.
Other Targets: Chase Anderson, Stephen Strasburg, and Blake Snell.
Hitting
The Chicago Cubs bats at home vs Jeff Hoffman.
The wind should be blowing at about 10 MPH at Wrigley Field. The Cubs bats started to wake up a bit yesterday after going through a bit of a lull. Hoffman has an ERA of 7.20 and an HR per nine rate approaching two for the season. He struggles against both sides of the plate but has been worse against right-handed batters. They are hitting .375 with two HR in seven innings against. For cash games, there are two locks for me but I will be using three in almost every lineup I make tonight. Remember, pricing is a huge part of DFS. Anyone of the Cubs hitters is in play tonight, but the list for cash games are as follows.
2B/SS Javier Baez ($4,600 on DK)
Going into yesterday, Baez was two for his last 20. Yesterday, he went 2-4 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, and a double. The struggles over his five previous games made his price drop. He is more than capable of knocking one out of the yard again. Expect him to produce tonight.
OF Carlos Gonzalez ($3,300 on DK)
Cargo made his debut for the Cubs yesterday and didn’t disappoint. He made a dazzling catch out in right field along with a single and walk at the plate. He’s familiar with Hoffman from his days in Colorado. He has a career .298 average vs righties with nearly 74% of his 233 homers coming against them.
OF Kyle Schwarber ($3,900 on DK) 3B/OF Kris Bryant ($5,200 on DK)
I like either one of these guys for cash tonight. It really just depends on what the rest of your lineup construction looks like. If you want to save, you go Schwarber. If you want to spend up, you go Bryant. They are both in great spots tonight.
Baltimore Orioles vs Drew Smyly
Drew Smyly is 1-3 with a 6.98 ERA 1.76 WHIP. He’s giving up 2.33 HR/9 and is pitching at Globe Life Park in Texas. Do not use Drew Smyly. Attack him whenever you can.
2B/3B Hanser Alberto ($3,500 on DK)
Alberto has been somewhat of a surprise this season. He will be leading off in a good spot against Drew Smyly. Alberto is hitting .391 with a .947 OPS and two homers vs left-handed pitchers this season. His price tag is way too cheap for the matchup. Get him in your lineups at second or third base.
1B Renato Nunez ($4,900 on DK)
Renato Nunez is another surprise this season. He’s hitting .300 with a .403 wOBA, and .984 OPS against lefties. He also has seven homers against them and 15 total for the year. Nunez has eight bombs in his last 13 games and is riding a four-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 7-15.
Other Targets: Ronald Acuna Jr., Mike Zunino, J.D. Martinez, Mookie Betts, and Andrew Benintendi.
