There are 10 games tonight on the 7:00 big slate. Let’s see who we should have in our lineups. I’ll give you a couple of value picks along with guys you will want to spend up for. Let’s get ready to win some cash.
Locks
Steven Matz ($7,400) @ Washington Nationals
Here is a solid value. Matz is fairly cheap at $7,400 on DK and the Nationals are rolling out a lineup with Howie Kendrick and Asdrubal Cabrera (combined 8-43, a HR, three walks) batting third and fourth respectively. Matz has been solid in his first couple starts with a 3.18 ERA and a 10/3 K/BB rate in 11.2 innings. Going against Patrick Corbin isn’t easy as the New York Mets are likely without a couple of hitters themselves. Matz should be up to the task and could easily go six and steal you a win.
Kyle Hendricks ($7,700) vs Kansas City Royals
Well…his first two starts were certainly Jekyll and Hyde. A complete game shutout on opening day, then a dud against the Cincinnati Reds. He is back at the friendly confines of Wrigley tonight and facing a less than dominant Royals offense. The wind is blowing in from left field at about 10mph so that should help to keep the ball in the park. The Royals swing and miss a bunch, they’ve struck out 100 times already, and Hendricks throws strikes. Look for another solid performance by the Cubs righty.
Cristian Javier ($6,500) @ Arizona Diamondbacks
The young Houston righty pitched a beautiful game against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Wednesday for his first major league start. Filling in for the injured Justin Verlander, Javier will look for a repeat performance tonight against the struggling Diamondbacks offense. Arizona has scored a total of 27 runs this year and is batting .192 as a team. They are also last in the league with a .533 OPS and only TWO HRS!!!
Stacks
San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies
You want contrarian? Here ya go. Take the Giants against German Marquez in Coors Field tonight. Marquez has looked great but both of his starts have been on the road. The surprising Giants offense is top five in the National League in many offensive categories and the vets on the team hit him well. Hunter Pence, Brandon Belt, and Brandon Crawford are a combined 20-47 against the Colorado starter. Ride the hot bats in a hitter’s haven.
Barrels
Yasmani Grandal ($4,900)
Here is a time when you spend up for a catcher. He is going back to the place where he had his most productive offensive season. He will be hitting against a pitcher he has caught before as well. While Brandon Woodruff has been solid so far in two starts, they have both been on the road. Expect Grandal to feel right at home at Miller Park.
Teoscar Hernandez ($3,800)
He is coming off a two-HR performance but that was on July 30 as the Toronto Blue Jays haven’t played since last Thursday. Hernandez has four HRs this season and sports a solid .321 BA. He is batting third tonight and at his price could get you solid points against lefty Max Fried.
David Dahl ($5,100)
He is a little expensive but is leading off at home tonight. He has a four-game hitting streak at home and should be able to hit Kevin Gausman and the underwhelming Giants bullpen. If it is a hitter’s night, Dahl should be able to give you five or six PAs which is always a plus when you’re fighting for those points late into the night.
