Let’s go back to the Short Slate tonight for MLB DFS August 29 on DraftKings. The last time we played one it went pretty well with Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado mashing. Can we find lightning in a bottle again?
All prices are DraftKings
Pitcher
Trevor Cahill ($8,800)
Cahill has been lights out this season. It is a small sample size, but in his last two starts, he has thrown 9.1 innings and has a 12/3 K/BB rate. His endurance has increased as well going from 65 to 88 pitches. Expect him to pitch into the fifth inning and maybe get to six. With solid strikeout upside and the cheapest pitcher on the Short Slate, Cahill should return decent value.
Stack
While you are saving money on Cahill, you should have plenty of coin to drop on Story and Arenado again. They are facing lefty Adrian Morejon. They are also in Coors Field tonight with the wind blowing out to left field at 9-12 mph. It is an absolute recipe for some deep drives.
Bats
Eric Hosmer ($7,600)
Hoss had four hits last night. He is in Colorado and has an .867 OPS in his career at Coors. Hosmer may be a little pricy, but he has everything set up for him, and even in a few PAs against Antonio Senzatela in his career, the San Diego Padres first baseman is 4-13 with a couple of doubles and four walks.
Brandon Belt ($4,500)
Belt is 12 for his last 21 with six extra-base hits. Tonight he faces Luke Weaver who he has hit well when he’s seen him. Belt is 4-8 head to head against the Arizona Diamondbacks righty with a couple of doubles and hasn’t struck out. For this price, Belt is not going to hurt you tonight and could certainly win you a few bucks.
