Weather is definitely a concern tonight. Be sure to recheck every game before locking your lineups. It’s weird to say, especially because Chris Sale is on the slate tonight, and we are always worried about his massive strikeout upside, but I think we can save a few bucks at pitcher tonight.
Arms
Dustin May ($7,500 on DK and $5,800 on FD)
Picking on the Miami Marlins is nothing new. They are last in the majors in home runs hit. They have the worst wOBA (.282) and wRC+ (76) versus right-handed pitchers. And they strike out at the sixth-highest rate versus righties (25%). Dustin May had a decent first outing against San Diego but really came on strong his last time against the St. Louis Cardinals. May went 5.2 innings, allowed only one run, and struck out seven batters. May is the number two rated prospect in the Dodgers system and number 35 ranked on the MLB Pipeline top 100 overall. Basically, he isn’t a run of the mill Triple-A call up.
Jack Flaherty ($9,000 on DK and $8,900 on FD)
Flaherty has been lights out since July 7th. He’s pitched at least six innings in five of his last six outings and hasn’t given up more than two runs in any of the six starts. As of writing this, Flaherty and the Cardinals are -240 Vegas favorites. With the weather concerns tonight, I feel pretty good about this game playing through. The Kansas City Royals have the seventh-worst wOBA (.307) versus right-handed pitchers. They also strike out a decent chunk against them at 22%.
Other Targets: Domingo German and Matt Boyd
Bats
2B/SS Gleyber Torres ($4,400 on DK and $3,600 on FD)
My goodness. You can’t make this stuff up. Torres hit two more home runs last night against the Baltimore Orioles. He hit one in game one of the doubleheader and 13 of his 26 home runs this season have been hit against the Orioles. I’m not messing around with this. The match-up against John Means is fine. Keep riding the hot hand.
OF David Peralta ($4,700 on DK and $3,800 on FD)
Peralta is hitting .295 versus righties, compared to only .240 versus lefties. And nine of his ten homers have come against right-handers. It’s a good spot for Peralta, hitting at Coors Field tonight and facing Jeff Hoffman. Hoffman owns a 6.57 ERA and allows a home run per nine innings rate close to two.
Other Targets: Jeff Mathis, Aaron Judge, Gio Urshela, Joc Pederson.
Stacks
New York Yankees vs John Means
Arizona Diamondbacks vs Jeff Hoffman
Texas Rangers vs Thomas Pannone
