MLB DFS: ALDS Game Two Slate

Today we have a couple of Game Twos. I will run down the players who should return value and will get you points whether you are playing a Classic matchup or a Showdown in MLB DFS. There may be a Captain or two in this group and we know how valuable a cheaper option can be. Let’s get to it.

Gerrit Cole – This obviously seems like a no-brainer. The Astros have won his last 13 starts and he is 16-0 in his last 22. Likely the Cy Young winner, Cole has tremendous upside as well as a safe floor even in the playoffs. His price may be restrictive at $10,800 but it honestly isn’t too bad considering the number of points he could return.

Jorge Polanco – The Twins hit a bit last night, but their runs were predicated on the long ball. Masahiro Tanaka will pitch for the New York Yankees. Polanco wasted no time making his mark in the playoffs with a first-inning homer last night. He did that batting right-handed. He has been better batting from the left side this year slashing .306/.378/.513 with 30 doubles, 16 HRs, and a 10.1% BB rate. Contrast that to his stats against lefties: .270/.305/.423 with 10 doubles, 6 HRs, and a 4.7% BB rate. I know there technically isn’t an ALDS MVP award, but I did pick Polanco to hypothetically win it. I am going to stick with him and so should you.

Stack

Houston Astros – You can feel fine stacking those ‘Stros against Blake Snell. Jose Altuve, George Springer, Alex Bregman, and Yuli Gurriel are a combined 18-51 with four doubles, five HRs, and a 7/8 BB/K rate against the Tampa Bay lefty. Mix and match here as your budget requires, but it definitely wouldn’t hurt to get at least two of these sluggers in there.

Captain

Tommy Pham – This is a contrarian play as he will be facing the aforementioned Gerrit Cole. Pham is an unbelievable 9-18 with two doubles, a HR, and two SBs against the Houston starter. He will be low-owned and only costs $3,900 in Classic and $12,000 in Showdown. Definitely a cheaper option to go with and you can rarely go wrong with a power-speed combo like Pham’s
