MLB DFS: ALCS Game Four Showdown

Game Four of the ALCS was supposed to be last night. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. What the change in schedule does for us though is it gives us a rematch of the Game One starters. It will be cool at Yankee Stadium tonight, and the wind will be blowing out toward the short right-field porch at about 16 mph. There should be a few souvenirs for the fans in those seats tonight.

Prices are from DraftKings

Masahiro Tanaka ($16,200 Captain, $10,800 Utility)

Although Yankee Stadium should be a nice hitting environment tonight, we can’t overlook what Tanaka has done. In two games this postseason (vs MIN, @ HOU), his line is 11 IP, 4 H (all singles), 2 BB, 1 ER, and 11 Ks. Tanaka has also given us exactly 24.3 points in each of those starts. I would feel comfortable making him my Captain, especially in cash games, as he offers the safest floor.

Gleyber Torres ($14,100 Captain, $9,400 Utility)

How can you not get Torres in your lineup somehow? In six playoff games so far, this is Gleyber’s line: 10-24, 4 Doubles, 3 HRs, 7 Runs, 10 RBI. Not to mention that he destroyed Zack Greinke in Game One. If there is any hitter I’d roll with at Captain, it would have to be Torres.

Michael Brantley ($11,100 Captain, $7,400 Utility)

Brantley is a nice value option due to the weather and the fact that he hits second in the Astros order. He is also 6-16 in his last four games. Also, something that is often overlooked by DFS players is that the Astros are on the road and will bat in the ninth inning. The same can’t be said for the Yankees. When you see a decent price and a bat at the top of the order for the road team, it should play a part in deciding who to have in your lineup, especially if there are similar options. That extra plate appearance in the ninth could mean the difference between cashing or not.

***Note: Keep an eye on if Giancarlo Stanton and/or Aaron Hicks is in the lineup tonight. Stanton is $7,200 and Hicks is $6,400. Both could be value plays. Stanton has the power to blast one or two at any time. Hicks may bat ninth but his on-base prowess, speed, and having DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge batting after him, give him a solid floor.
