Welcome back, my fellow MLB DFS degenerates. We have a slate of eight exciting games in baseball tonight beginning at 7:05pm EDT, with plenty of options available to create your lineups. The pitching is particularly stout, and should produce some admirable performances. There’s no time like the present to put some cash in your pocket, so let’s get to some recommendations. Favorite value picks are below. At the end, I’ll list another player at each remaining position. Finding a combination of these guys could land you a well-rounded lineup.

Value on the Hill
Yu Darvish – vs Arizona ($8,100)
The cost for Darvish tonight is a little surprising. Arizona is not as good as their record would indicate, and even that is four games under .500. The Diamondbacks go through spells that raise and lower their ranking in runs scored per game, where they currently rest at 23rd overall. They also have a propensity for striking out often. The last time I rolled out Darvish in this article was in his last start, which came against his former Cubs team. Like a knife through butter, he cruised through eight innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts. In fact, in his last two times out, his combined stat line is 15 IP, two wins, seven hits, one run, zero walks and 13 punchouts. He held the Cubs and Mets to a .137 batting average. Darvish seems to have hit his stride.
Best pairing: Corbin Burnes – vs St. Louis ($9,900)
Burnes has pitched very well against the Cardinals historically, including holding a 40 percent strikeout rate and a .279 on base percentage. His first time facing them this season resulted in seven innings of two-hit baseball with 11 strikeouts. He is ranked fifth in K/9 in 2022 with 11.4.
Value in the Field
Orlando Arcia, 2B – vs San Francisco ($3,400)
Even with Logan Webb on the bump for the Giants, I have a tough time going against anyone wearing a Braves uniform right now. They just lost two games and the series to the Chicago Cubs of all teams, but the preceding 14-game winning streak was something else. Arcia has been playing extremely well of late. Prior to an 0-for-4 on Saturday, he was in the midst of an 8-for-13 run featuring a double, two dingers, three runs scored, and four RBI. He is batting .344 on the season with an impressive .968 OPS in 64 at bats. I’ll pay $3.4K for that kind of production every time.
Andrew Benintendi, OF – at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Disneyland Adjacent
Benintendi has been the model of consistency of late. He is riding a 14-game hitting streak, batting .375 with 21 hits during that stretch. He’s also drawn seven walks in those games, aiding a .444 on base percentage. Benintendi’s power numbers have left a lot to be desired so far this season with just two moonshots and a somewhat boring .740 OPS on the year. Some more gappers will fall, and a few will clear the fence in due time if he’s seeing the ball as well as he is now. He’ll tap the plate against Noah Syndergaard, who has been inconsistent. He’s allowing eight hits and two walks per nine innings, and has coughed up 20 earned runs in just over 50 innings, leading to his 4-5 record.
Adam Duvall, OF – vs San Francisco ($3,300)
I told you I’m not scared of rostering any Atlanta batters right now, even one that’s batting .205. Duvall is the ultimate boom/bust guy, so the price seems appropriate. It seemed to take him forever to get revved up this year, as April and May were completely forgettable. However, it’s been a different story in June, where in 15 starts he has a surprising .983 OPS. This month alone, he’s batted .250 but has three doubles, a triple, and six long bombs. Tack on six walks, 15 runs scored, and 10 RBI and it’s made for a nice turnaround to his season. The cost can’t be beat, and helps save some dollar bills to drop elsewhere.
Here are my other preferred picks for tonight. Full disclosure, I’m not sure that rookie Oneil Cruz will get the start for Pittsburgh, but they have purchased his contract, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t roll the 6’7″, 220 pound future superstar shortstop out there. If they do, he gets a start against another rookie in Caleb Kilian for the Cubs, who has been knocked around in two starts.
