Pretty much everybody that I gave to you yesterday performed well in some capacity, with the exception of Joey Gallo who went 0-4 with four strikeouts. Today, I want more consistency from my picks than I got yesterday. The Rockies and Padres game was a let-down offensively and the wrong part of the Phillies’ lineup went off yesterday. Both pitchers earned quality starts and Jacob deGrom even went 2-3 with a double, a single, and an RBI. Let’s get into today’s picks.
Before I start, make sure to check starting lineups before you enter these picks, because some of the lineups aren’t confirmed at the time of writing.
Stacks:
Texas Rangers at HOU (Corbin Martin)
Elvis Andrus (SS), Joey Gallo (OF), Nomar Mazara (OF)
DK: $13500
This might be a low-owned stack considering the Rangers are going up against the Houston Astros, but the Astros are pitching rookie Martin. It will be his first career MLB start. I tend to like attacking players who are making their first start because it’s a lot of pressure for the guy. You could look at in a different way, saying that none of these players on Texas have ever seen Martin before which might give him the advantage, but usually, that’s not how it goes for guys in their first career start. Gallo should bounce back from his golden sombrero last night and Mazara is a good value play at $3700 especially against a right-handed pitcher. You could put Hunter Pence in for Mazara, but that would cost an extra $1100 which isn’t worth it in my eyes.
San Diego Padres at COL (Antonio Senzatela)
Franmil Reyes (OF), Manny Machado (SS), Eric Hosmer (1B)
DK: $14200
Add-Ons/Replacements: Ian Kinsler (2B), Hunter Renfroe (OF)
I’m getting deja vu from last night. I’m riding this stack one more time. I’ve lost all faith in Antonio Senzatela as a capable starting pitcher especially after he got rocked by the San Francisco Giants. He’s allowing 10.7 H/9 and two HR/9 this season so far, and the game is in Colorado today. The Padres should take full advantage of Senzatela and show out on offense, unlike last night.
Minnesota Twins vs. DET (Daniel Norris)
Nelson Cruz (OF), C.J. Cron (1B), Jorge Polanco (SS)
DK: $13700
Add-Ons/Replacements: Marwin Gonzalez (OF)
Daniel Norris is giving up 10.5 H/9 to start this season and the Twins have shown their ability to hit the baseball. Polanco’s price is pretty steep at $5200, so you could remove him from the stack and throw Gonzalez in the outfield and save $2100. Cron and Cruz are good values for their power upside. Let’s see if the Twins have Norris’ number today.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. PIT (Steven Brault)
Marcell Ozuna (OF), Paul Goldschmidt (1B), Paul DeJong (SS)
DK: $14200
Brault has been less than spectacular this season and the Cardinals have struggled offensively this series which I doubt will continue. They’re due. Goldschmidt is great value at $4300 today and all three of them can leave the yard.
One-Offs:
Bryce Harper (OF) at KC (Jakob Junis)
DK: $4700
Brian Anderson (3B/OF) at NYM (Noah Syndergaard)
DK: $2800
Khris Davis (OF) vs. CLE (Jefry Rodriguez)
DK: $4300
Nolan Arenado (3B) vs. SDP (Nick Margevicius)
DK: $5800
Trevor Story (SS) vs. SDP (Nick Margevicius)
DK: $5500
Francisco Lindor (SS) at OAK (Daniel Mengden)
Pitchers:
Lucas Giolito at TOR
DK: $8000
Martin Perez vs. DET
DK: $8500
Hyun-Jin Ryu vs. WSH
DK: $10000
