As we are already one-third into the season, we’re starting to see which teams are contenders and which teams are pretenders. We’re also now watching some clear-cut contenders make a case to win some awards at the end of the season. Here some guys that may be in contention for those awards
Brandon Lowe Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays enter another year with a roster that features a good rotation and an impactful lineup that puts them in playoff contention. One of those hitters is Lowe. The man was consistent last week by getting a hit in seven consecutive games, including two three-hit games. He also led the American League in RBI (11), and hots (14) to go along five home runs and earned American League Player Of The Week honors.
Juan Soto Washington Nationals
Can we talk about how good Soto is? The Nats had no problem letting Bryce Harper go when they knew they had this man. Last week he led the National League in runs (12) and RBI (12), second in the in OBP (.528), and had a multi-home run game to be to help him be the National League Player Of The Week.
Gleyber Torres New York Yankees
Torres had a lot of pressure going into this season due to a highly successful 2019 season. Unfortunately, he did not start well, up until last week he was hitting .157, thanks to a four-hit game and eight hits in his last three games, he was at .254. Last week he led the American League in AVG (.526) and OBP (.640)
