The remainder of the season for the Minnesota Twins will serve as an evaluation of their players. This was not the season the team was predicted to have. Recent trades have resulted in the Twins entering a rebuilding phase.
Stats accurate as of Monday, August 11, 2025.
Disappointing Season
The Twins are having a disappointing 2025 season, despite many considering them a playoff team. They are currently fourth in the AL Central with little to no chance of winning the division. The Wild Card is also out of reach, with the team currently six games out. They would have to pass seven teams in the race to get the final spot, and that’s not likely to happen.
No Consistency
The team has lacked consistency in all aspects of the game. They are in the bottom 10 of almost all offensive statistics. Their team batting average is .242, and they have struggled to convert scoring opportunities. They are 20th in runs per game.
The lone bright spot, the bullpen, also lacked the consistency to hold leads for the win. Even fielding has been inconsistent. Yes, they are in the top 10 for fewest number of errors, but they are also last in assists and second-to-last in putouts.
#MNTwins have lost three straight games and five of their last six.
They are 6-9 (.400) since the trade deadline after going 51-57 (.472) before the trade deadline.

National Spotlight
The Minnesota Twins’ remainder of the season has them in the national spotlight. At the MLB trade deadline, they traded 11 players—40 percent of their current roster.
Gone are outfielders Harrison Bader and Willi Castro, infielders Carlos Correa and Ty France, and pitchers Danny Coulombe, Randy Dobnak, Jhoan Duran, Griffin Jax, Chris Paddack, Brock Stewart, and Louis Varland.
Those moves unexpectedly became the central topic of discussion in MLB due to the Twins’ surprise fire sale. Each of those players was established, and all were considered the core of the team.
Letter to Fans
The teardown of the Twins’ roster will be one to remember for Twins fans and baseball fans alike. Any trade is going to draw at least some disapproval and criticism from fans, but the moves the team has made have angered many fans. Many have canceled their season ticket renewals.
President of baseball operations Derek Falvey sent a letter to fans stating their mission to win a World Series remains unchanged.

Focus on Young Players
The rest of the Twins’ season will be spent evaluating their young talent and the prospects acquired through trades. Pitchers Taj Bradley and Alan Roden will see increased playing time. Both highly regarded prospects, they will have the chance to prove themselves at the big-league level.
Infielders Brooks Lee and Royce Lewis will be looked at to see if they can live up to their potential. They, along with outfielder Byron Buxton, are now the leaders and spokesmen for the team.
Additionally, the rest of the season will help assess the strengths and weaknesses of the team’s revamped roster.
Decisions to be Made
Decisions made during the remainder of the 2025 season will undoubtedly impact the team’s plan for 2026. This organization traded 40 percent of its players, though many were already on expiring contracts.
There is no promise that the new players will work out. However, the Twins’ front office feels the new lineup, as constructed, will be ready and competitive in 2026.
