Mass. NCAA DI Men’s College Basketball 3 Stars of the Week (Nov. 21)

Here is Prime Time’s first installment of Mass. NCAA DI Men’s College Basketball 3 Stars of the Week.

? Luwane Pipkins/UMass – Sophomore guard scored a career-high 34 points – which included seven 3-pointers – to help guide the Minutemen past Niagara, 101-76, on Sunday.  He also dished out five assists in the win. His outing landed him Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week honors.

??Rinardo Perry/UMass Lowell  Sophomore guard erased a tough game on Wednesday (two points), by netting a career-high 26 points on 11 of 19 shooting to push UML over Cornell, 98-78, on Sunday.

???Jerome Robinson/Boston College – Junior guard shook off a 10-point performance against Texas Tech less than 24 hours prior, as he erupted for a season-high 25 points on Sunday as BC beat La Salle, 82-61. His 3-point make with 12:57 to go ignited a 10-3 Eagles run to help them pull away.

More Money, More Problems.

I took a casual poll on whether or not college athletes should be paid or compensated when their respective university uses their image or likeness. The results were not as I expected. Out of about 100 people who responded, 72 of them said that college athletes should not be paid. This sample included people who had played and who were passionate about college athletics, people who were recently out of college and people who have been graduated for a long time. I personally voted that they should be compensated for their image being used for marketing or recruiting and in a way, they are with scholarships. But we all know that scholarships can only help so much.
