The Red Sox are yet to sign a slugger, and with no news on the J.D. Martinez front, the Red Sox have reportedly contacted Logan Morrison as a backup plan.
The Green Monster is in need of a heavy hitter, and one reported worry the Red Sox have with Martinez is his fielding. Even though his number in the outfield look subpar, his ability to crack the ball would benefit the organization tremendously.
Another possibility why Martinez is yet to put on paper with the Red Sox is the recent signing of Chicago Cubs pitcher, Yu Darvish. The Japanese pitcher was signed for a whopping $126 million, and the former Diamondbacks outfielder could use that as leverage for more money.
The Red Sox need to make moves as soon as possible because the regular season is just a little over a month away from taking off. The team is preparing for the 2018 season at JetBlue Park at Fenway South in Fort Myers, FL.
