Over the years, Brad Marchand has evolved from a fourth-line winger into one of the league’s best scorers.
Last season, the former third-round pick reached new heights as he recorded 100 points for the first time in his career. His historic season only raised expectations on a team full of stars.
Through four games this season, Marchand has again been impressive as he looks to repeat last year’s success. Even though the Bruins’ early-season success is a team effort, Marchand has again been a catalyst on offense.
After being held scoreless on opening night, Marchand has made up for it over the past four games. In total, the veteran winger leads the Bruins in goals with four and points with seven. He has again been productive on the powerplay and already has one game winning goal.
Additionally, Marchand’s impact was on full display Tuesday night against Las Vegas. After falling behind by two goals early on, the Bruins, led by Marchand, took over the game. The defending Eastern Conference champions scored four unanswered goals, three of which Marchand factored into. As the Bruins faced their hardest test of the young season, one of their most important pieces stepped up.

Although it was an impressive comeback, Marchand’s performance came as no surprise.
The Bruins’ top trio has gotten off to a slow start, but they have improved over the past two games. Marchand will be a key part offensively as he is coming off a season in which he set career highs in multiple categories.
Despite a challenging four-game road trip to begin the season, Marchand has picked up where he left off last year. The Halifax native is averaging a little over a point per game and has carried this team of late. Of the Bruins twelve goals this season Marchand has factored into seven of them.
Furthermore, Marchand and the Bruins were able to bounce back from their first loss of the season in their home opener. The Bruins defeated New Jersey 3-0 and Marchand had multiple points for the second time in the Bruins last three games.
Although the Bruins season ended in heartbreak last year, they have started 2019 as a team on a mission.
As the Bruins look to return to the Stanley Cup Finals, Marchand will be more motivated than ever. He is one of the Bruins’ best players and has taken a lot of criticism for how last year’s playoff run ended. The regular season has only just begun, but the veteran winger is already in midseason form.
