For the people that do dynasty fantasy football, we have no offseason. For the people that do redraft, switch to dynasty leagues! The NFL has also released the schedule for the 2020 season so we are all pumped and ready! I am going to tell you my five favorite wide receivers to buy low in dynasty fantasy football!
Slowly, slowly, sports all around the world are trying to reopen after this devastating pandemic that has affected the world. The sports world has been shut down since the middle of March, so some sports coming back is definitely a welcome sign.
T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts
Hilton is coming off a season where when he was healthy, he was a force to be reckoned with. Due to his ongoing calf injury last year, he only played 10 games. However, during those games, he was catching balls from the incompetent Jacoby Brissett. He finished the short season with 45 catches, 68 targets, 501 yards, and five touchdowns.
This year, he gets a much more capable quarterback throwing him the ball, Philip Rivers. Hilton is going to feast this year, especially with the addition of stud rookie wide receiver Michael Pittman, Jr. Last year, with so many injuries affecting players such as Jack Doyle, Eric Ebron, and Devin Funchess, the opposing defenses locked in on Hilton and wouldn’t let him beat them. This year, it’s a whole different story. He’s going to thrive is arguably one of the most potent offenses in the NFL.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Evans took a backseat last year to stud Chris Godwin. He didn’t have one of his best seasons but this year, oh boy, it’s a whole different story. We are used to seeing Evans produce eye-popping numbers, but last year’s numbers weren’t that appealing. He finished with 67 catches on 117 targets. He also totaled 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns, that was with Jameis Winston. Now, Evans gets to play with future Hall of Famer Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. I am expecting video game type numbers from Evans this year in what should be one of the most fun offenses in the league. No defense will match up with the offense powers of the Bucs this year and Evans is going to feast.
Jamison Crowder, New York Jets
Crowder is one of the players on the Jets most primed for an explosive season. Yes, besides Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell carrying the load, Crowder is going to have a fantastic, stat-stuffing, season. Last year, he played second fiddle to Robby Anderson. Crowder still did the best he could to help propel a very poor, untrained, confused, and bafflingly unprofessional play from Adam Gase and Darnold. However, Crowder finished the season scoring touchdowns in six of the last nine games. This year, he is going to lead the charge as the Jets number one wide receiver. I am expecting him to be an extremely viable asset both in fantasy and for the Jets. If Darnold could take the next step, Crowder could finish the league inside the top 20, especially in PPR leagues.
Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas Raiders
Renfrow is being overshadowed by Darren Waller and others. The Raiders brought in speedster, Henry Ruggs III in this year’s NFL draft. Last year, in 13 games, Renfrow had 71 targets, 49 catches, 605 yards, and four touchdowns. He really turned it on and started stuffing the stat sheet from weeks eight to 13, before an injury kept him out for a few games. He is a much more productive player in PPR leagues, than non PPR leagues. This year, with Ruggs taking some of the pressure off of him, Renfrow going to thrive. He is one of my favorite buy lows this year and is definitely capable of producing WR2 numbers. Grab him while you can!
Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Johnson is the prime example of a buy low! He had a spectacular year last year without Ben Roethlisberger throwing him the ball. In his first year, Johnson finished with 59 catches on 92 targets while chipping in five touchdowns. He had extremely poor quarterback play almost all year from Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges. The Steelers didn’t bring in any receivers from this year’s draft (Chase Claypool should be viewed as a move tight end), showing complete confidence in Johnson.
Johnson is only 23 years of age, and the sky is the limit for him. Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster will make for a pretty insane dynamic duo for the Steelers this upcoming season. A healthy Big Ben will certainly do that. I am expecting a monster season from Johnson and we could possibly see him pass JuJu on the depth chart. He is a very intriguing buy low, and he is going to flash this year!
