Final Score: Lions 13, Packers 27
The Packers took an early lead and never looked back. The Lions did all they could to attempt to catch up, but they weren’t able to overcome the loss of Ben Johnson or the Packers’ will to win. Someone needs to hand Detroit a pass to an early intervention problem. The hold left by Johnson’s departure was noticeable and needs to be remedied as soon as possible if the Lions want a winning season. On the other hand, the Packers looked sharp and showed they are dialed in for the season. Getting Micah Parsons a week before the season started was certainly a morale booster. The Packers ran over the Lions 27-13, giving us a glimpse into the future of their division this season.

Looking Forward
Though Green Bay used Parsons sparingly, his presence was felt with pressures and a sack on Jared Goff. Josh Jacobs had just eight yards on six carries in the first half, but then 58 yards on 13 attempts in the second half, including a fourth-quarter touchdown. Jordan Love was looking good also: 16-of-22, 188 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions. If the Packers can keep this dominant performance up throughout the season, they stand a good chance of winning their division and going far in the playoffs.
There’s no resting on their laurels for the Packers. They have a quick turnaround, taking on the Washington Commanders on Thursday night.
The Lions weren’t all bad; however, they clearly missed Johnson calling the shots on offense. If Detroit wants to stand a chance of taking the division, there needs to be a quick turnaround of how they operate on both sides of the ball. They need better pass protection. Their offensive line cannot cede four sacks and nine quarterback hits each game.
Detroit is set to host the Chicago Bears for their home opener. If they are not careful, they might go 0-2 in the division.
