Kyle’s 2020 Positional Rankings: Receivers

2020Positional Rankings: Receivers

Over the next several weeks, I will be ranking the top ten NFL players at each position. These rankings will be solely based on performance in the regular season and will not include any injured players. The positions of players were determined from ESPN.com

Check out my previous rankings: Quarterbacks | Running backs

Let’s take a look at the best pass-catchers from the 2020 NFL season.

No. 10 | Darren Waller, Oakland Raiders

After signing a contract extension in the offseason, Waller dominated the league in 2020. He led the tight end position with 107 catches, while also totaling 1,196 yards and 9 touchdowns through 16 games. Waller has established himself as one of the top receivers in the league.

No. 9 | Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

Despite having poor quarterback play for most of the season, Robinson’s route running and sure hands resulted in his second consecutive 1,000 yard season with Chicago. He finished the season with 102 catches for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns.

No. 8 | Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

As a rookie, Jefferson established himself as one of the top receivers in the league and had a historic season. His 1,400 receiving yards passed legends like Randy Moss and Anquan Boldin on the way to the second-most receiving yards in a rookie season. Jefferson appears to be the steal of the draft and is a front-runner to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

No. 7 | Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons

Ridley continued his success from his breakout season in 2019 and proved that he can dominate with or without Julio Jones on the field. The Alabama product’s deep threat ability and elite route running helped him haul in 90 catches for 1,374 yards and nine end zone trips. He also led all receivers with eight 100-yard games this season.

No. 6 | D.K. Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

With Russell Wilson playing at an MVP level, Metcalf broke out in his second season by bringing in several highlight-reel plays each week. Through 16 games, he caught 83 passes for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

No. 5 | DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals

After being traded to Arizona in the offseason, Hopkins found success in his new home and looked even more dominant with Kyler Murray. Hopkins finished the season second in receptions (115) and third in receiving yards (1,407) among all receivers.

No. 4 | Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs

“The Cheetah” continues to give defenses nightmares with his blazing speed and quickness. Hill amassed 1,276 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns and added 123 yards and two scores on the ground.

No. 3 | Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills

In his first season with the Bills, Diggs and Josh Allen built an amazing chemistry resulting in a dominant campaign. Diggs led the league in both receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535), and found the end zone eight times. He set career-highs in receptions and yards, while also breaking the Bills’ single season receiving yards record.

No. 2 | Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs

Kelce has officially ended the debate about the best tight end in the league. His 1,416 receiving yards finished second among all receivers and broke George Kittle’s record for the most receiving yards in a season by a tight end. He also recorded his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season and scored 11 touchdowns in 2020, leading the defending champs to their second-straight Super Bowl.

No. 1 | Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers

Despite missing two games due to injury, Adams ended the season second in receptions with 115 and fifth in receiving yards at 1,374. He also led the league with 18 receiving touchdowns and 98.1 yards per game. Adams and Aaron Rodgers may have established themselves as the best quarterback-wide receiver duo in the league. Both are front-runners to win awards this season (Rodgers for MVP, Adams for OPOY).
