Knicks, Julius Randle agree to three-year deal

Julius Randle is reportedly in agreement with the New York Knicks on a three-year, $63 million deal. Adrian Wojnarowski related the information from CAA agents Aaron Mintz and Steve Heumann.

Randle was selected early in the first round of the 2014 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Once his contract expired in 2018, he latched on with the Pelicans on a one-year deal. After an impressive season in New Orleans to follow up some decent campaigns in Los Angeles, Randle finds himself on the receiving end on a three-year deal that brings in $21 million annually.

Randle has started 231 games in 311 appearances over the last five seasons, but with just one game in his rookie year, it’s more reasonable to look at that as 231 starts in 310 games over four years.

In 2018-19, Randle started 49 of the 73 games he appeared in, posting per-game averages of 30.6 minutes, 8.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.6 blocks, 2.8 turnovers, and 21.4 points. He hit more than one third of the three-pointers he attempted while connecting on more than half of his two-pointers and nearly three-quarters of his free throws.
