Jordan Phillips Returns to Bills on One-Year Deal

After being a mid-season waiver claim, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips will be staying in Buffalo for another year. After inking a one-year deal with the Bills, Phillips took to Twitter saying he had a “done deal.”

Drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma, Phillips gained momentum and recognition as a solid rotational defensive tackle. Working his way up to being the starter for the team in 2018, Phillips was ultimately waived by Miami due to an on-the-field outburst in Week 4.

Since being claimed by the Bills, Phillips has shown flashes of being a very solid and enthusiastic defensive tackle under the current defense of Leslie Frazier. In just 12 games in rotation, Phillips racked up 19 combined tackles and 3 passes defended for the team.

Phillips’ career (since 2015) has brought about 82 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 14 passes defended, and one interception. He is looking to add more throughout this coming year with the Bills.

With a defensive line that needs some depth either in the draft or free agency, inking Phillips to one more year helps solidify an already talented defense and brings his great passion on and off the field for the upcoming season.
