Jon Lester heads to St. Louis

Veteran left-hander, Jon Lester is heading to the St. Louis Cardinals as the Washington Nationals are not done making deals. They get outfielder Lane Thomas in return.

Lester has quite the resume and the Cardinals are getting a 37-year-old with three World Series rings. He isn’t the Lester of old but he can be a valuable piece if the Cardinals can make a run in the National League.

Thomas heads to Washington. He hasn’t gotten his MLB career off to a great start but he is still just 25 and needs time to play. He could be a solid fourth outfielder for the Nationals but may get some good playing time to show what he can do over the last two months of the 2021 season.
