Shocking trades are made in every sport almost every year and San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was looking to pull off a big one.
Lynch in his first year in the 49ers front office, swindled a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo but not before he would ask New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick about the possibility of trading quarterback Tom Brady.
As most expected, it didn’t go well.
“We were calling about Jimmy and we did have that conversation and got quickly rebuffed,” Lynch said on the Pardon My Take podcast. “I figured, ‘What the heck, you gotta take your shot, right? You can’t score if you don’t shoot.’”
Big Cat on Barstool Sports tweeted the audio of Lynch recounting what happened.

When looking back at his career as a general manager, Lynch will probably always remember the time he was laughed at and hung up on by Belichick in his first year on the job.
