Jayson Tatum Helped off Court in FIBA Match

In the second week of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, team USA found itself locked in a dogfight versus Turkey. Kemba Walker and company wound up escaping in overtime, but the more prominent story is Jayson Tatum’s injury suffered in the closing seconds.

The young cornerstone of the Celtics hauled in a rebound off a Cedi Osman missed free throw, and promptly got to work on the fast break with under 10 seconds to play. He completed a beautiful pass to Bucks’ forward Khris Middleton, who in turn drew a foul and sank both free throws for the win.

But it wasn’t all smiles for the States. Tatum crashed to the floor, and meagerly hobbled off towards the sideline. He eventually had to be helped into the locker room by two staff members.

Celtics fans can let out a sigh of relief, as the injury was reported as a sprained left ankle.

The time Tatum is forced to spend off the floor is still unknown, and Prime Time Sports Talk will continue bringing you updates as they surface.
