The trade deadline is fast approaching and there should be some significant moves made. For the Jacksonville Jaguars, they are projected by big media to sell one or two defenders. However, it is more likely that the team doesn’t trade anyone, but actually acquires pieces. The Jaguars are in this unique situation where they need to provide pieces for the team to build chemistry and allow Trevor Lawrence to develop effectively. To address it right out the gate, trading Cam Robinson is the wrong move and Urban Meyer and Trent Baalke likely understand this, as Walker Little may not be ready to start.
In short, many players will not want to play for a 1-5 Jaguars team, and who is to blame them. The team just snapped a 20 game losing streak, yet there is still excitement in the air of the players and in the locker room. In the press conferences, players are different from years past. Thus the players the Jaguars trade for aren’t bonafide superstars, but rather underdogs or players cast to the side who fit this group.

Potential Trade #1: 2022 fourth-round pick to Cleveland Browns for Odell Beckham Jr.
The Cleveland Browns have three young receivers who filled in admirably for Beckham. while he was away. This trade would allow those young receivers to get on the field more. Both Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz have shown the ability to be competent and make plays to keep this offense on track. As well, Beckham’s injuries have prevented chemistry to be built between him and Baker Mayfield. In short, a change of scenery is needed to allow Beckham to return to his pro bowl form.
The Jaguars, on the other hand, require a separator for Lawrence. The team needs to not only get someone who can get wide open but someone who can become a true number one receiver. Beckham can draw the opposing best cornerbacks, which then will give Marvin Jones and Laviska Shenault better matchups. Overall, the need for an alpha wide receiver cannot be understated and might be the key to unlocking this offense.
Potential Trade #2: 2023 fourth and fifth-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Clelin Ferrell
Let’s start by stating the obvious, Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson have been somewhat disappointing this year. Dawuane Smoot has been the team’s most consistent edge rusher. The team needs to take shots at edge rushers in every capacity to improve this group. Clelin Ferrell was the fourth overall pick in 2019 but never lived up to the pick. He was even a healthy scratch for Week 1 and has not been able to get onto the field as Maxx Crosby and Yannick Ngakoue have been extremely good. With a change of scenery and opportunity, Ferrell may be able to show some pass-rushing prowess.
Potential Trade #3: 2022 sixth-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for Laurent Duvernay-Tardif
This is a win for the Kansas City Chiefs as they get cap relief which would help them acquire an edge rusher. The Chiefs would save 2.7 million with a post-June designated trade and allow them to use that added cap for other contracts. As well, rookie Trey Smith has won the starting job and has been extremely good.
Whereas the Jaguars get a long-term option at right guard with A.J. Cann out. Ben Bartch has shown good things, but the Jaguars need to ensure they have a player who can be a difference-maker in the run and not a liability in the passing game. Duvernay-Tardif’s contract is voided after this year, where the Jaguars would get the early option to re-sign him. Ultimately, Duvernay-Tardif is a better option than re-signing Cann or letting Barsch play.
